Etsy put my old shop on vacation mode

Hi guys, not sure if anyone else is having the same issue? When I logged on my shop 1 week ago I saw this message on Dashboard 'Your shop will stay in Holiday mode while we review your info. This means you won't be able to receive new orders until we finish verifying your info (which usually takes up to 48 hours after you uploaded your document). No need to do anything else right now – we'll reach out if we need more details'.  from you.

I have checked through my emails even the spam, nothing came from Etsy to alert me on this. note I have opened my shop since 2023 it is very odd that Etsy is requesting to verify my info now without notification and without the email, I have no idea what info is requesting to be uploaded( but unploaded my ID 3 times) and still nothing .

i have emailed them twice about to explain what is going on and again nothing.

Thank you in advance for any advices.

Request a call back, drop the 0 and enter your mobile number. It may show an error, ignore this, for some reason it still logs the call back request

Re: Etsy put my old shop on vacation mode

Have you added your UTR in the

finances - legal and tax information - additional taxpayer ID - add tax payer ID, click the box, scroll down to United Kingdom(UTR number) click and add it

It is a new requirement from the UK government, we have picked up the OECD laws for platforms having to automatically update HMRC with our sales income, so they can check we declared our full income, and have paid the correct taxes (the EU calls it DAC7)
...... I think HMRC had an idea that many people weren't declaring when they should (1,000 gross is the threshold for reporting, it is a very low number), or not declaring everything. Amazon already require it and E-bay will require it too.

you also need to add your address and e-mail address in sellers details, with the trader box ticked (not personal)

you need a right to withdraw policy

....

I had an e-mail about it, which said we would have to enter a tax id

the original announcement is in the announcement section

Re: Etsy put my old shop on vacation mode

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply.
Just a quick question-

The UK government allows you to earn up to £1,000 a year in trading income without registering as self-employed or paying any tax. So if you have a small side business that doesn't bring in much income, you may not need to pay tax on it.

So , I haven’t had even sales more then £500 from January 2024, do I have to get UTR number anyway?

Thank you

Etsy will want you to enter the number before you reach the threshold, like they do for VAT,

it's also 30 items a year, so they would probably want it at about 20-25

If I was doing that few sales and income in a year, I would close my shop, in the new regime, it wouldn't be worth the hasssle

Re: Etsy put my old shop on vacation mode

I think both Ebay and Etsy will have to inform HMRC how much you are selling to the tune of £1,000 or once you have 30 transactions or more during the year.

If Etsy requires you to enter a UTR number to continue on their marketplace, then why not just register for it?
