I recently closed my bank account, and wanted to switch my etsy payment setting to my other bank account. When I enter my bank account number, Etsy keeps saying it does not match the number they have on file, even though I contacted my bank and made sure that I have the correct number.
I've been emailing customer support for almost a week now, and they refuse to listen to the problem, and keep telling me to enter the correct information, even though that is what I am doing.
I have searched the etsy forum and found that there are others who have also faced this problem, so it's clearly a problem with the website, not with me.
Everybody refuses to help, and I really don't want to start a new shop, because I have worked way too hard to get this one where it is.

@LakesStitching As far as I'm aware, when you want to change your bank account you first need to enter in your previous bank account number, then it will let you enter in the new account number. This is a security measure to reduce hackers from being able to redirect payments to a different account because they would need to know your old account details first.
Are you entering the old number first?
Going through the same thing right now. My bank doesn't even have the info because it was closed 7 years ago. I moved out of state and no longer have documentation of my account. It was an oversight on my part that that old account was still in there as I hadn't sold anything in years. Now that I'm actively selling again I can't change my account number. I don't want to start a new shop I have over 50 sales and a ton of reviews that I would hate to lose. Not to mention that my funds just got sent to a closed account.
I'm in the same boat. I've spent weeks working on my shop and am now ready to open - updating my banking info was the final task. I'm seriously considering just moving to another platform at this point. I don't understand why, if this has been going on with people for YEARS (since 2022), nothing has been done to fix the issue? Do better, Etsy.
