Etsy messages: "Sending failed."

I've had contact from a potential customer via another medium. They've told me that when they try to message me via Etsy they get the automatic message comes up in red letters in the chat box: "Sending failed."

Worth saying, I never spam people and can't think of any other reason why chat would be blocked.

Could it be that my shop doesn't have any products in it at the moment? (Much of my work is custom so at this moment I'm busy making, not selling, so my listing are currently deactivated.

Maybe they have sent too many messages and it is blocked for them, not the other way round (that you think) you are blocked. Or it is just another Etsy glitch.

Also had a customer saying the same thing this morning

'Note for seller: For some reason it won’t let me reply directly to your message,'

Weird, as I have had a conversation via messages with a user since yesterday morning and both of us have sent messages to each other this morning (just over an hour or so ago) with no issues.

Why are you sending anyone messages? You don't have any customers yet. Etsy may have muted you for spamming.

i also have the same problem but to rectify it is impossible. Its easier to get an audience with the Pope! Getting support from etsy is so slow or not existant, Come on Etsy, help us newbies please

I just made the shop on Etsy, 4 people sended me a message and i can"t reply... I just press send and nothing happen"... I"ve never send a message so that they can say it's spam.... Anyone have any idea why i can't send any message ?

@OlleyPottery: This sounds like it is an issue with Etsy, not your messaging in particular. We have been getting an "error loading your messages" on and off all day.
