Hello, I see 3 messages from 3 costumer message in my e-mail account. But when I log in to Etsy, I can't see the messages. I don't understand why this is the case. And talked to support about this via chat, he hasn't closed the chat since yesterday and I can never correspond with anyone else.I couldn't solve the problem either. Because I can't get any other support
Since you are a new seller, there's a good chance those messages were scam messages. Etsy caught them and removed them from your messages before you were able to see them.
Hi yes sometimes I get really suspicious messages but usually they stay and I never reply. but I never see these three messages. I tried to get help from Etsy assistant and he said he would leave it to the engineers and not to leave the chat but it's been a day and the support chat never closes so I can't talk to any other support and I haven't gotten a response. It seemed strange that three messages disappeared at the same time.
@Mirosin Etsy has gotten much better at identifying scam messages and will remove them fairly quickly now.
Are you using the app? Try a browser. Look to see if those messages ended in spam.
Also if these are customers that previously bought from you, they have your email address.
@PrimFun They are not customers who have purchased before. Actually I use a browser and I checked everywhere, even the spam box and the trash...
@Mirosin: If you look the raw content of the eMail copy of the Etsy Message, the text of the Message is there so you can see if it was legitimate or not. How you do that depends on your eMail client.
NO, Etsy changed that many months ago, the text of a message us no longer shown in the email. The email only tells you that there us a message waiting for you and the sender's Etsy name (not their real name).
This is because sellers were fooled into believing the email they received that were scam messages, were legit emails from Etsy staff.
@VogueVixens: Sorry, but you are incorrect. The actual 'convo' message text IS available - just not in the display. One needs to look at the raw text (sometimes called source) of the email message and it is there. We just double checked new Etsy Messages and it is still there.
@TheVintagePineapple Yeah, You're right. But even the day before that I got a message and not deleted. I've only made 1 sale before so I don't want to miss out on real customers... you know...
Again, you're a new shop and the odds that those messages were from legitimate buyers is very low. Most buyers will simply add to cart and follow through with the purchase with no need to contact you first.
@TheVintagePineapple There are also personalized products, so it seemed like they wanted to write in advance. Thank you for the reply. I hope they are scammers then
@BagmakerSupply Unfortunately, the message content is not available in the email preview.
@Mirosin: Etsy intentionally hides it from the preview - you need to look at the raw content of the eMail.
Honestly, Etsy hardly ever sends sellers messages so I suspect there is a 99.9% chance these are scams pretending to be Etsy. I have been on Etsy for over 10 years and in that time I have received maybe 3 messages from Etsy, 2 of which were in 2024 about protecting myself from scammers.
Do NOT click on any links in the emails or provide any financial data/information to any site links you have clicked on. Etsy won't ask for your financial information because they already have it from when you set up your shop.
Also, if the message content is not available in the email preview and the message isn't in your Etsy mailbox, there is a good chance Etsy caught the message and deleted the scammer's account. In this case the message was a scam.
I received TWO Legit. Messages from Etst recently, trying to encourage me to get a Square and link it to my Etsy account.
Really that's what the Shop Dashboard is for; "offers", I don't need to receive soliciting messages direct from Etsy.
Great advice here, sounds like Spam. Be very careful about clicking links or responding.
Best of luck.
