I tried to update my app as it was showing on my screen all the time and it just wasn't uploading.I deleted the app to try and install it again with the update and it's still not allowing me . Now I haven't got the app, My tech guy has looked at it and he is also out of suggestions. I've reported it to Google. Have you any advise please?

If you have a tech guy who has looked at it, then us other sellers here probably can't do a lot more

the only sort of advice would be to make sure you have properly de-installed the app, 
before you install the most up-to-date one, and make sure your device is compatible with the newest version

but I would have thought a tech guy would have already done this

It appears that to update or download Etsy's seller app, you must first be sure that you do not have the old, orange Sell on Etsy app on your phone.

I guess Apps are listed in alphabetical order so the really old one will not be under "E" for Etsy but will be under "S" = the "Sell on Etsy".

Besides the advice above make sure your phone will allow the change.  Sometimes phones have extensions that make it harder.

You may need to clear out your phone completely of all vestiges of any previous app.

make sure you have completely removed all the etsy apps, including the old orange one.

we can only hope that any future updates are not this difficult. 

I had to get my "tech guy," my daughter to figure it out.

I had the same issues, after reading this, I uninstalled ALL Etsy apps and restarted my phone. Unfortunately, I did not uninstall of apps. I then was able to install both the buying and selling apps on my phone (Android phone). Problem solved : ) I am back up and running with Etsy!
