24 orders worth over £400, all posted out, all received, all happy buyers.
Im so annoyed! Like many others I was asked to verify my seller information, I have submitted my drivers license, countless times and every time Etsy ask for it again! Ive spoken to live chat THREE times, all in plenty of time before the deadline to put my shop in holiday mode. This has been going on for weeks and weeks with the live chat advisors saying dont worry, we will get the designated team to contact you, keep an eye on your emails.. about ten days or so ago I started to panic as I still hadnt heard anything, so back on the live chat again.. I said I'm worried I'm going to lose the £450 sat in my account, the advisor said no please dont worry, this will not happen and she was very reassuring about getting the whole thing sorted, I uploaded my driving licence direct to her too as she asked and she said again a designated team would email me... today etsy have refunded my last 24 orders, all already delivered and put my shop in holiday mode, over £450 gone!
Ive contacted my buyers only 4 have replied and paid me for their products, disgusted at whats gone on. I tried to contact Etsy and lo and behold the live chat option has disappeared for me... just a little email us and expect to hear back in 3-5 days box! So I opened a new browser accessed the live chat through that without logging in, explained to the advisor who just left me on read and disappeared, then I managed to get another advisor who then told me.... a designated member of the email team would get back to me!
Im so angry! I cant afford to just lose £450!
I cant even claim the postage Ive paid for my last 3 parcels back (which I havent posted yet) because that option has been removed from my account!
Etsy can see Ive paid the postage on every order they have refunded! Why refund sent out and received orders? Its nonsensical! Most of them had even left feedback! And the blatant cheek of the final 3 due to be posted tomorrow that I cant even get a refund on the postage for which is about another £10.
An absolute con! How can this be ok?

This just happened to someone else.
I'll see if I can find the thread.
I don't know if this is exactly the same situation but here

It happened to this seller, too, also after having trouble verifying their information:
Solved: Etsy have cancelled and refunded all of my orders! - Welcome to the Etsy Community
I thought of that $4000 thread too. Etsy's going to bankrupt itself - ending up re-paying Sellers for stupid bot mistakes.
* This is their update -
@CapriciousThings @It’s awful that you got caught up in this latest Etsy debacle. Here’s a thought…maybe Etsy could wait until verification is successfully completed before allowing a shop owner to list products. Duh.
Really? @DivineCrossings that is much too logical for the "keep commerce human" bots.
This OP has over 400 sales in their shop - the other 4K one had a name change with a marriage.
Maybe Etsy can program a bot to keep an eye on the Refundbot.
@HouseofWhisperingFir lol…it truly just boggles the mind.
Do you guys think that maybe it has to do with both the OP and the other $4000 refund shop having Barbie items in their reviews? The other one still uses the Barbie font, which isn’t a smart move after going through all that. I remember there was another shop where Etsy refunded all orders a while back and they also had IP problems. (Don’t remember if it was Barbie specifically). So it might be a combination of both. IP and verification issues that triggers these refunds.
No I don't think it has anything to do with that @SunnytyDE as the other OP who had over 4000$ of delivered sales refunded, eventually received the full amount back from Etsy and was allowed to carry on with their shop.
These are costly mistakes.
How costly is anyone's guess, but it seems many customers are getting free gifts lately from Etsy

This is now the 5th thread I have seen, where verification and ip infringement together, have cause refunds
one has had their money back, the other 4 have not
......
they also have no legal return policies, or shop selling policies
........
there has been extra verification needed on all UK shops, which is around a million shops, because of the oecd regulations our government signed up to - the huge majority are checked and confirmed automatically if everything matches
there have been very few problem posts here, considering the volume that had to be re-checked by law.
