Etsy does not allow me to use a different shipper for international, it DOUBLES my shipping price!

I am about to lose thousands of dollars in sales because Etsy won't let me update my listing without switching to one of only a few shipping options. It DOUBLES my shipping price.

For my most popular products I use a distributor who ships via "SF-Express" to save my international customers on shipping. The shipping ends up about $10. When I input the SF-Express tracking number into Etsy, it recognizes the number and displays the tracking.

If I have to use one of their limited services instead, it costs $17-22 minimum to ship a $13 item (my most frequent international sale). People do not want to pay more in shipping than for the product. This is a nightmare. I will lose thousands of dollars and people will go to competitors instead.

Etsy needs to allow 'other' for international shipping until they can give us reasonable options. For domestic orders I use USPS, which is fine. It is only international orders that are the issue.

Re: Etsy does not allow me to use a different shipper for international, it DOUBLES my shipping pric

Etsy offers Asendia for US sellers doing international shipping, but that isn't one of the choices offered.  Think about that.  So Etsy can't insist or enforce its own list.  When asked, Etsy's solution is "Just pick whatever shipping time is closest to whatever you choose".  It's ridiculous.

Don't stop using something just because Etsy doesn't have it on the list.  Just pick something and ship whatever way makes sense to you.

But if my listing has to say that it ships from one of their options, and I ship from a different one, it looks deceitful.

I'm not disagreeing with you.  I'm simply pointing out that Etsy is forcing this on us.

@InfiniTokens @bradgoodell "But if my listing has to say that it ships from one of their options, and I ship from a different one, it looks deceitful." The buyer doesn't see the option you select on the listing or in the cart, so that isn't an issue. It just says "standard shipping" in the cart.

Can you not simply put in the fixed shipping cost and continue to use your current service.

It is only calculated that is tied into USPS for service.

I don't see calculated on your items.

You can always mark the order completed and add the tracking number from your service.  That works.  You say it works.

I'm not sure what you want here?   Have you checked to see if your service is found on Aftership?  That is the service Etsy uses for following tracking.

Re: Etsy does not allow me to use a different shipper for international, it DOUBLES my shipping pric

My items are currently set to "other", but if I want to update the listing (including adding stock) it won't let me save it unless I change 'other' to one of their options.

In order to use SF-Express to ship those orders, I have to set the international service as "other" (instead of Etsy's choices of USPS, UPS and FedEx). With "other", when I mark listings complete, it will let me type in the service. That won't be an option if it is no longer "other".

With Etsy's new policy, I will no longer be able to use "Other" as a shipping option. I will HAVE to use USPS, UPS or FedEx and I will not be able to input the SF-Express number.

And if my listing says it ships from the Etsy options they offer, even if I could somehow use the SF-Express tracking number, it would look deceitful.

I don't understand the issue -

"When I input the SF-Express tracking number into Etsy, it recognizes the number and displays the tracking"

So just use the SF-Express tracking number.

In order to use SF-Express to ship those orders, I have to set the international service as "other" (instead of Etsy's choices of USPS, UPS and FedEx). I fill in SF-Express manually when marking orders complete.

My items are currently set to 'other' because I haven't had to change those listings, but once I need to save changes it won't let me save until I change 'other' to their options.

As far as the concern about looking deceitful ... you could note that you use SF-Express for international orders in the listings.
