Etsy Promotion - £5 off of buyer orders of £25+ this weekend

Hi, 

I received an email this morning about the Etsy promotion this weekend, but it doesn't seem to be working in the UK? When you try to enter the Etsy code GET5 it says you need to change the currency to Dollars? Is it working for anyone else based in the UK (and buying in the UK)?

how stupid is that!

and E-mail saying get £5 from a £25 order, and you have to change currency to $, and lose whatever you gained, in currency conversion!

@thatregina  can you escalate, or otherwise, the promotion will be over, before etsy gets to fix it

Here's the scoop

Etsy is funding £5 off all eligible orders* with code GET5. You’ll keep your full earnings whenever you make a sale during the promotion. The promotion starts Friday evening and runs until Sunday night. There’s no limit to the number of times a buyer can use this promo between Friday and Sunday. That means there are plenty of opportunities for you to make sales!

*Orders £25 or more for buyers in the US, UK, and Canada. Sellers must accept Etsy Payments to be eligible.

When you change to US$ it says "This coupon is only valid for new accounts.".

So as it doesn't go live until Friday afternoon, (according to the announcement in the forums, haven't had the email myself, and notice it says evening) it would appear it's not actually live yet.

Not false advertising.  Just a company that isn't aware that there are different time zone in the world.

My email definitely says £ NOT $

It also says "no action is required on your part", NOT change the finances of your whole shop for the weekend.

It also says "Friday evening", but is that UK evening or USA evening? What time?

Is the £25 item price, or order total including postage?

Sorry Etsy, but to get an email at 20 minutes to midnight the night before a promotion, with incomplete and incorrect information, really DOES NOT HELP!

Etsy really should clarify what time that UK buyers/sellers can use the GET5 voucher code - as I received the Etsy email this morning and set about promoting the offer - this could look bad if customers are feeling deceived. 

Maybe just activate the code asap.

Yes, the E-mail says Friday through Saturday.

I’ve just shared this on my Instagram and wondering if I should remove it until it’s clear what currency Etsy mean? The email says £5, 5 dollars is not the same as £5

I have shared it on Instagram and added that I do not agree with making offers selective and will honour all customer no matter where they are from during this promotion weekend arranged flawed and on our behalf and In terms of the code Get5, should be 5$, 5 euros or 5GBP.

You can not offer a discount for one and not the other based on where they are from.

I've tried it and had the same problem as well. I have messaged Etsy support, but no reply yet - there's a shock!

I was just about to share it on social media, so I'm really glad I checked it first

Thank you so much for your replies! I was in a rush this morning and missed the part that said evening on the email. Hoping that the currency doesn't need to change though. Times would be helpful too.
