The last 2 days, I had two return buyers and I sent them a confirmation on the NEW order.
The message I sent was blank. I sent it again and again. I looked in my messages, and the messages were sent to the first thread with the buyers. I even apologized for the excess messages that liked blank on my end.
I have tested replying through my phone to the new message and it still goes to the old message.
I wasn’t worried about this until I looked at my Star seller data and I got dinged for not responding when I responded multiple times in many different ways.
I submitted a ticket to Etsy with details and screenshots.
Anyone else have this error?
If you initiated the messages that has nothing to do with Star Seller.
l am not sure what you mean.
I respond to all my messages as soon as they come in.
A few days ago now, I ran into the issue so just explained and I went from 100% down to 97%.
It appears at least other person has a similar issues.
My issue in the op does affect the 5-star seller program.
Yes, the same thing is happening to me and it's making it very difficult to keep track of things. It looks like there are no messages on the existing order because they're all attaching to messages regarding an old order. Once again, it appears that Etsy is testing and making a mess of things

"Streamlined Messages" aren't making it easier to stay on top of messages. It makes no sense to have no messages displaying for a current order because they're all attaching to an old order.
It’s not this. It is a bug. It also docks me for not answering.I answered the message multiple times and it leaves it blank but then responds to the first thread. Then Etsy says I didn’t respond to the messages in the 5 star seller queue. It’s happen twice. I went from 100% response to 97%. I worry it will go lower if this continues.

Not a chance!! That would involve a degree of logical thinking on their behalf
This has been driving me crazy for the last couple of days, too, and I just realized that it's this new "streamlined message system". Not a fan! It's more helpful to see the discussion associated with each order, especially with orders from multi-repeat customers, than smashing them all together and having to sift through a huge chain of text looking for the specifics of a particular order. To me, a continuous message thread seems somehow less "professional" than unique messages per individual order, too - like we couldn't be bothered starting a new message so we're just recycling an old one. 🤷
That's Etsy for you, fixing what isn't broken.
I don’t think that is what this is. The message is blank & goes to the old thread and then U get docked from etsy in the 5 star seller for not responding, which honestly, is a bit maddening.

sequence and sent it to Etsy, so we will see what they say.
We may be in the minority, but replying to every (even duplicate) messages was much simpler than trying to figure out which order or inquiry a customer is referring to when all messages from them are lumped into a single thread. Plus now we also have the clean out all of our sent messages from the inbox.
These improvements abysmally fail to "make managing all your messages much more streamlined."
I would be ok doing it if I did t get docked for non-responding to the message even when I did. I will share what I hear back from Etsy. It’s a holiday weekend so we will see how that goes.
Yes....It just happened to me and now I am worried too about my Star level being checked. I too replied 3 times and then went to check my messages sent file only to find it was added to an old purchase message sent to this buyer over a year ago. I guess I need to contact Etsy now too.
I replicated the process and took screenshots doing so. I think it is a bug. I will let you know how Etsy responds.

Until this is fixed, you might want to either hold off on sending an order confirmation (Etsy automatically sends one anyway), or send the confirmation directly by email to the customer's email. But why you are dinged when you initiate a message, I don't understand. It should only count if the buyer initiates a message.
