Etsy aware Star Seller program broken....

My first time posting in this forum. Lost my star seller for July, over a spam message. The only message I didn't reply to was a spam message asking me to pay for a vendor table at some local event. I did mark it as spam but apparently there was a glitch and it wasn't recognized as spam. I used the chat option to notify Etsy and the rep was obviously not trained properly. Her replies were just re-typing the rules from the star seller program. She wasn't acknowledging anything that I said. When I said this was a spam message she replied it doesn't matter, that I must reply to any message I receive.

I told her she was incorrect and asked her for a copy of the chat, which they are supposed to supply, she said if I wanted a copy than I need to do a screen shot of the chat myself. Every interaction with a customer has a reference number to it and she wouldn't supply that to me. Then she said she was ending this chat, and did so. I did copy & paste the entire chat into a word document. 

Then I used the request a call option and spoke to the phone rep. He was much better trained and could access my messages and the chat that occurred. The phone rep acknowledged the message was spam and said they'd been having issues with spam messages not being tagged correctly and still being picked up as working against a seller for not responding. He then said they are aware the system is broken and are actively working on it, but nothing he can do about making my star seller status be correct. 

It's similar to receiving a traffic infraction ticket in the mail for running a red light but proving to the court that the light was in fact green. The court then says, we acknowledge the system is broken but you still have to pay for the ticket and it remains on your record....

I had a similar experience with the help desk. The rep said there is a problem with star seller but they don’t have the ability to fix it. It has been two months for me.

That's a shame for you & for NanaLetha.  Etsy is aware something is broken in this regard, acknowledged it can't be fixed yet Sellers are still graded on these broken Metrics.  Doesn't make sense.  There are a lot of glitches going on as it is (back to back, some very serious having to do w/ financials).  Nevertheless, when Sellers are being graded on Known Acknowledged Glitches that cannot be fixed.....makes zero sense.

Last Fall I had one "true" Spam (like you guys).  Not from an Etsy Seller about an Order (no idea who it was; someone fr. an outside group).  Can't remember if I replied or didn't; I deleted it fr. my Messages (I believe I replied, "No Thanks"), then Marked as Spam.  So this sounds similar to what you both are experiencing, yet NOW there is no fix for this acknowledged glitch.  Makes a lot of sense (not).

Honestly, I think Etsy is acutely aware of many things, but prefers to turn a blind eye to the fact!

They break something, leave it, move on to inventing something else that doesn't need inventing.

So true! The SS program is flawed, they know it, yet continue to rank us with it?  Better yet, they know it but decide to plow ahead talking about a new Sustainability badge? WTH?

THATS WHY EVERYONE GOES IN EBAY ,, THEY HAVE A  PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE IN EVERYTHING ,, IN ETSY I THINK 2 KIDS RUNNING THE WEB. EVEN THEY HAVE NO NUMBER TO CALL.  ITS FUNNY

I am constantly having an issue with my tracking not showing up. The Star Seller dashboard doesn't show it on some sales until a day or two later. Sometimes they are First Class sales other times Priority USPS. I'm constantly having to email Etsy and get them to correct it. Unfortunately I had three "untracked" sales near the end of May. The revisions weren't done in time and I lost my perfect Star Seller status for falling below 95%. I'm told they are aware of the situation and keep notifying them. Now, I've sent a message two days ago and the most recent incident hasn't been corrected.
