Etsy, How Many Years Does it Take to Fix the Featured Listings On-Going Problem?

Etsy, How many years does it take to fix the Featured Listings on-going problem? They claim they are working on  this for 2 or more years, LOL!  Does anyone have any tricks or ways to work around this?  I should have started to remove Mother's Day items 2 weeks ago so they would be gone by now and replaced with my 4th of July items! I guess I could not use them and rearrange my shop but that is a pain also!

For me, there really is no need for this feature.  Maybe Etsy sees it that way, too, and don't want to spend the time or money to fix it?
I do understand the frustration, though, when something is there but doesn't work.

Before we were given the capability to rearrange our shops it served a purpose, now not so much.

You're featured items look up to date to me now.  Fourth of July items.

Considering how long it's taking Etsy to add Ground Advantage to shipping choices and profiles, I'd say with feature listings we're looking at a decade or so..........................

Etsy still hasn't added "Ground Advantage" to calculated shipping profiles.

Etsy only added GA to "fixed" shipping profiles a while back.

It's been almost 2 years since USPS removed 1st class package and Parcel Select and rolled into one GA. Yet Etsy still offers both even though they are NO longer an option with USPS.

Sellers still have to select BOTH 1st class package and Parcel Select from the mail class options to get GA to work properly.

I wish I had known there was a longstanding issue with Featured Listings. I turned mine on earlier this year & have never been able to turn them off again. I've read here that it can take a while to refresh & change listings out, but for me, I turn them off & the settings get turned back on & my items never go away.

@BluKatDesign   I'm surprised to read this.  I change my featured listings quite often.  They do take a couple of hours to change over, but other than that, no problems.  I just move the yellow star from the one I don't want there anymore to the one I want there.  After that, I rearrange them in the order I want.  I'm sorry people are having problems with it.

Same here, I just un-star the ones I want to change, and then add in the ones I want to feature. A little while later, the new featured items show up fine.

I un-star my listings to stop showing the featured listings & the stars literally keep turning back on.

I unstar (they never untar when I come back later),  then star new ones. Nothing works. I was able to change a few over a couple hours but I can't get the last one! Sometimes it takes weeks to get them right!

@CanningCrafts - have you tried just refreshing the listings page you are on when you "unstar" a listing? I have started doing that....turn off the star, refresh that page, rinse & repeat! Works every time! (It does take a couple hours to change on the front, but the star is gone, and stays gone, on its listing page.)

@timelapse I would un-star & refresh the listing page & the stars would turn back on. I only ever had 4 starred at a time. I haven't tried in a while. I kind of just gave up Will try again...

@CanningCrafts - It has to be each individual listing page as you do each one, not at the end. Good luck!

@timelapse Well I just unstarred one at a time & refreshed, stars didn't come back, & my shop page immediately removed the featured listings. Wow! I don't know if it was your tip completely that worked or if whatever glitch was going on had fixed itself earlier. I had completely given up. Thanks!

If it's been that long, it's unlikely it will be fixed. It might not be fixable or it's not a priority for etsy.

Am also surprised to hear this.. Not having an issue with featured listings in my shops.

Maybe Etsy has been slow to work on this problem for some because it just doesn't affect all that many shops to start with. And they have bigger issues to deal with??

Weird how some people have issues and others don't. Works fine for me. Does take a bit for changes to take effect but they always do.

How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie roll center of a Tootsie Pop?  The world may never know. It works but it takes a while. I purge all the superfluous starred listings first and get it down to only four starred listings. It seems to work a bit faster that way but not sure it actually does.

How do you get rid of them? I always do this first thing but they don't go away even after several days of trying!

It's slow but usually works pretty well if you only have 4 starred listings.  If you star more than 4 so that when 1 sells another takes its place then it can get very glitchy.

Because it is not on their immediate lists of things to correct.  Since it does work somewhat they aren't going to fix it really.

Frankly I gave up on featured listings.  As a buyer I seldom visit front pages and when I do, the featured listings are in the way sort of.  I ignore them.

Yeah! It's obvious Etsy has been patting themselves on the back ever since the "upgraded" the listing page totally ignoring how screwed up iut is and how difficult it's made things for us for NO advantage!

Total waste of time and money since the previous version worked perfectly fine! I never had an issue till Etsy "upgraded".

It will NEVER get fixed because Esty doesn't care! Doesn't make them $$$$ so why bother....

I use the quick edit feature to do the featured listings and it takes a good hour most times but it does work. I am sorry that it isn't working for sellers who want to use it.
