I am not sure what is going on but etsy has deactivated all my listings.  And of course I am not seeing the blue chat bubble.  Anyone else???

OH NO! The same thing is happening with me. I've been selling for over 15 years and they're saying they "can verify my tax info. Even though I just got a 1099 from them! I'm on DAY 6 with no response or solution. Their customer service is an endless loop of articles with no way to contact them.

That’s really frustrating! Etsy sometimes deactivates listings due to automated security checks, policy updates, or even payment issues. Check your email or 'Cases' section in your Etsy dashboard to see if they sent a reason. If the chat bubble isn’t showing,

Hello,

I hope your shop is back up.

My shop is finally up.  I had to edit my taxpayer info.  Click Edit, Select Non Legal Name; type name to match driver license, I selected Tax ID, and used SS#.

**Before I had my middle initial.

This worked for me, it took 24 to 48 hrs.

For others in the same boat (suddenly being told your tax information suddenly has issues after years of no issues, and having your shop suspended, then getting all sorts of "we can't verify your information from the information you submitted" messages), here's how to reach Etsy support:

1) In Shop Manager, click on Help and then open the "Etsy Help Center".  Ignore all the stuff at the top and scroll down down down until you see "Contact Etsy Support" at the very bottom.  Click on it.

2) You'll see "Buying on Etsy" and "Selling on Etsy."  Choose "Selling on Etsy."

3) Scroll down to "Finances and Billing."  Click on it, then click on "US taxes" (or whatever applies to you).

4) Then click on "I still need help."  (It's at the bottom).  You'll be given a choice of "Chat" vs. "Have us call."   Based on my experiences yesterday, I recommend "Chat."

5) Definitely ask for a ticket number to refer to if you need it again.   I asked for and got a ticket number, but it's not showing up in my "submitted cases."  So I'm not sure if anyone's actually working on this.  I've received no indication from Etsy of anything being worked on, but my shop was suspended just yesterday, so hopefully I will able to actually make some income again in a day or two.  So far, though, nada.

6) Supposedly the process takes 2 or 3 days to have your shop restored.  You will lose all business / revenue for those days.  But supposedly your listings will be restored once they have verified your tax info with your name instead of with your shop's name.

7)  If like others you have lost the "Star Seller" badges that you worked hard for MONTHS to achieve, please contact Etsy and lobby to have your Star Seller badges restored also.  @ModAngie, I hope you are keeping up with this thread and some of the concerns of the sellers that this has impacted.

I have not heard anything back from Etsy for any Mods on the same situation. Star seller here with 800+ items deactivated. Full time  seller on etsy with days of no revenue.

Bumping this thread - It seems like people are still going through it without Etsy actually stepping up and addressing the issue.

It looks like my Star Seller Status was finally also restored.   I lost a little over a day of views / income, endured a lot of anxiety and heartburn, and my listings got bumped lower in the search engine, but at least I have a shop again and at least they didn't delete all of my listings.

Etsy is clearly set up to protect buyers, not sellers.

Here's a tidbit... did you know that if someone doesn't live particularly close to where your shop is located and pulls up one of your listings, that person gets a message "Ships from (whatever state you're in)!  Shorter shipping distances are kinder to the planet."   Which basically is a message to the buyer along the lines of, "There may be another Etsy seller closer to you who has similar items for sale, and it'll leave less of a carbon footprint for you to buy from them instead of getting something from the Etsy store you're looking at right now."  I mean, that's a total slap in the face to Etsy crafters/sellers who have worked hard to make quality stuff and promote their items.  Just saying.  What other e-commerce site puts a disclaimer like that on items for sale?  Why is Etsy actively trying to shunt business away from my shop just because a buyer doesn't live in my part of the country?  It's just crazy.

Sellers pay the bills at Etsy and I just wish we were treated better, could get help from Etsy more easily, and that we would not have to spend hours trying to figure out what to do or to rework things after they implement random changes.  I wish they would improve their search engine.  I wish they would fix the months-long problems that happen when they change things (like thumbnail cropping STILL taking 3 or 4 tries to "save" and display correctly).  I wish that the actual photo cropping and any sales prices would display the same on my Shop Manager view as they do the view that customers see... and more.  I wish Etsy would go back to what Etsy was set up for -- unique handmade / handcrafted / vintage items -- and shut down shops that have bulk resale of mass-produced stuff.  There are so many things that they could do to improve things for the type of sellers for whom Etsy was originally created... changes that would ultimately improve things for Etsy buyers, too.

@ThePathologicalDyer  What the HECK! I hadn't seen that note before. They've had the carbon footprint note for a long time, but this new one is pretty low. Just wow!

Or how about.."Or just don't buy on Etsy..buy local and reduce your carbon foot print!" That is an asinine message. PirateShip told me in my year in summary my highest shipment states from me in TN are TX and CA tied followed by FL, IL and Ohio in that order. So really do people even care?? I slice that carbon footprint off the bottom of every packing slip. Etsy is wasting my toner and increasing my carbon foot print.

@hopeandjoystudios I sell the most to CA (from Ohio), so I don't think most care about distance when buying online either. I imagine convenience trumps all. Much of the "green" stuff as far as I can tell, is just a virtue signaling sham.

@CanningCrafts given that @ThePathologicalDyer said "Which basically is a message to the buyer along the lines of" [my emphasis], I think that that is just their take, not a quote from Etsy.

I personally don't take the "kinder to the planet" message as a slap in the face. The planet comes before me, and as a shopper, I like a company that does that.

Day 4 of no revenue - issue still not resolved for me.
I’ve entered 3 help requests, one was answered, only to request account verification and haven’t heard back in over a day.
I went through the steps to get a call back, I received one last night from a heavily accented gentleman, who couldn’t stop yawning while I was explaining the issue. He said I would hear back from someone but couldn’t say when. He also gave me a ticket number.

if something like this happened on Chairish, it would have been resolved in under a day.

If you enter multiple help requests, I think it just keeps resetting / prolonging things.  Now that you have a ticket number, give it a couple of days and if your shop hasn't been un-suspended I recommend using chat rather than the phone thing (I also interacted with someone who had issues understanding English to some degree, kept asking me to repeat everything and the background noise was horrendous).  Go to chat, tell them it's been days and still not resolved, give them your ticket number and see if they can update you about what is going on.  Most shops have had the issue resolved in 1 1/2 to 2 days.  But putting in multiple help requests I think sets the clock back to zero with each request.

When you do get the message via email that your changes have been verified, if your dashboard still shows the message that they "can't verify," DON'T RESUBMIT stuff.  Log out and log back on, and the message will probably be gone.  This happened with me and others.

Sorry this is happing to you (us).    You might want to bump it to the attention of one of the Etsy "moderators" like @ModAngie.

This happened to me too 3 days ago, I probably talked to the same guy. No help, he said to wait 24 to 48 hours and the "pending verification" should be removed so I can edit something that is correct in the first place. I am thinking about going to Chairish.

Just curious - has anybody opened a Chat window and not gotten anybody on the other end? I'm one of the ones who had all my items deactivated on Monday. Went back and forth, uploading ID stuff (that they already had) and finally yesterday I got an email from Etsy that I am now verified and can once again receive funds from my sales.  But - they haven't reactivated my listings! I'm not going to pay to relist items that were already paid for.

I've had a chat window open now for a half hour and... crickets.  Anybody have a clue how to get through? Just figured I'd ask!

ETA:  I think I'm going to start a new thread, maybe if it's new and visible some admin might even see it! Still if anyone here has a clue I would be so happy for the help (insert smile emoji here!)

I see one item for sale but you don't have any payment methods showing on your home page nor on the cart page.

Did you see the solution the OP posted yesterday about some update Etsy did and the legal taxpayer name was changed on her account?

Chat is outsourced so it doubtful they'd be able to help and from what I've read on the forums, they often give out incorrect information.

Here's a call back link, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

@weekendjewelry1 Go to your Finance Tab then, Legal Tax Information. Click the Edit Button. Under Full Name put what ever the IRS has on file. Hit submit.

You should then see a message to wait an hour for your shop to reactivate. IF you get an error it means the FULL NAME you entered does not match what that the IRS has on file.

@weekendjewelry1 Chat is sometimes frozen, unfortunately - you have to open an email ticket to get it fixed.

Yes, a new thread will probably be best. Good luck!

@weekendjewelry1

It sounds like you and I are on the same timeline / stand by. I'm also waiting for 800+ listings to magically appear again. I'm still yet to receive a reply from etsy about this.

I'm going to look for your new thread.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else, tax info is not verifying despite selling with the same info since 2014 and the one support email response I did get was them claiming I was trying to change ownership of my shop. This is costing me a serious amount of time and money, why can't Etsy get this fixed? What happened to actual live support?

I agree my name had to match DL  the I had to upload my DL

Here is what I did.

My shop is finally up.  I hope this helps.   I had to edit my taxpayer info.

Click Edit, Select Non Legal Name; type the name matching your driver license then, I select Tax ID, and used SS#.   (**Before I had my middle initial. )

Then I had to upload another copy of my DL, then click submit.

This worked for me, it took 24 to 48 hrs.
