I am not sure what is going on but etsy has deactivated all my listings.  And of course I am not seeing the blue chat bubble.  Anyone else???

How did you even get to the point of a chat?  I keep going in circles with the AI "help" and can't get to the point of a chat.  I finally got ahold of someone in a call center (https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?segment=selling#issue sell offsite ads-callback), but nothing's showing up as a pending "ticket."  

I''m having the same issues as you, and it's frustrating.

Follow the same steps as above to get to the Contact us page. 

Shop Manager > Help > Contact us

Once on that page select Selling on etsy and go through the various issue options until you find the option to email. Generally if you find "I still need help" button at the bottom of any of the option pages clicking it will take you to the available support options for that issue. You may have to get creative and select things that don't 100% match your issue. 

Try this click chain 

Selling on etsy > Managing my shop & listings > Manage listings.

Once there scroll to bottom and click 'I still need help'. That should hopefully take you to the page with the option to email them.

I also woke up to all of my listings being deactivated and my shop suspended due to taxpayer information issues. The email I received stated:

"Thanks for providing us with your taxpayer information. Unfortunately, we’re having trouble verifying the Social Security Number you entered, and your shop has been temporarily frozen."

I didn’t change anything, and my taxpayer ID is my Social Security Number. Somehow, it defaulted to our shop name instead of my actual name in the tax information. I figured this was the issue, so I resubmitted it with my name and uploaded an image of my driver's license.

I then received another email stating:

"We're verifying your new name on Etsy."

Shortly after, I received the same email I got this morning twice saying:

"Your shop is frozen due to unverified taxpayer details,"

along with instructions on how to update my tax information with a valid Social Security Number. This is insane!

This morning, I see your shop full of listings and I'm able to add items to my cart with all payment options available.  Did Etsy communicate further with you? Looks like your shop is up and running again.

Yep, same here. Multiple (contradictory) emails, submitted my picture id, still nothing. I'm not going to try any more today, don't want them flagging this because of  multiple contacts that must be suspicious! Or something.......

They suspended my account yesterday after having incorrect tax information (I haven’t had this issue after 5+ years on Etsy) then deactivated over 800 listings. I’m not sure what to do - but I’m with you!

This has happened to me too.  I updated taxpayer Name.  Selected :  NonLegal Name change, then typed name to match my driver license.  Uploaded copy of driver license.  Even though I was already verified still had to do this.  Im verified but still suspended. I have ticket open ETSY has not responded.  Just waiting.

Oh heck! So this is not a one off but a whole new level of Etsy verification hell when we all thought Vacation Mode was the worst case scenario!

The bots have gone haywire!

UPDATE: 8:50am  3/25/25 (Day 2 of my shop being shut down)

I received a notification from etsy that they had verified my shop information about 7pm last night 3/24/25 and the 60 day  threat was removed from my notifications in my shop.

I received an additional email this morning from someone at etsy that received a message from a moderator here is the forums with directions on what to submit to get my shop reopened with a ticket number that was different than the ticket number I received yesterday when I had a call with etsy The directions in the email are DIFFERENT than the directions I received yesterday but I (out of desperation) imputed everything as they requested and received an ERROR AGAIN!!! I have responded to the email (who knows if it is manned or not).  I am now talking with the IRS. This is absolutely CRAZY.

Yes I saw this morning that your shop (and items) are active again! That's wonderful. I do have a question - did you do *anything* else that they were able to verify? I've uploaded my government picture ID (drivers license), they have my valid SSN, and I get nothing back...  If anybody has a helpful link or tip I'd really appreciate it!

They told me it would take up to 3 days.  Make sure that you have a ticket number just to be sure that you're "in the system."  The first time I called for help, I could barely understand the person I was talking to - heavy accent and LOTS of background noise, and she was having a hard time understanding me also.  She did not give me a ticket number, and I wasn't very hopeful after that conversation...  I tried it again with chat and that was a lot better; I requested and got a "ticket number" to refer to.  It was really hard to figure out how to get to chat or phone support.  Fabricfetish went above and beyond and told me how to get there.  You have to go to Seller Help and just keep clicking on things until you find the chat/phone help options.  It is NOT easy to find.

Well, certainly a pleasant surprise waking up to my shop being active again. Right after I posted here, I sent them a stern e-mail using the recommended path WitticismsRus laid out:

"Selling on etsy > Managing my shop & listings > Manage listings.

Once there scroll to bottom and click 'I still need help'."

I haven't received a response, and I still have a large yellow banner that states I need to "Verify your new name within 60 days to get paid". I'm nervous to touch anything, so I'm going to wait for them to respond. This whole thing is absolutely infuriating, and I hope your shop gets back up and running.

My shop is back up and running!

1. Etsy did an update which switched out your "Legal Tax Payer Name" under your tax information on etsy to your "Shop and or Business Name"

2. Etsy suspends all listings in your shop

3. After etsy suspends all listings in your shop it sends you an email saying your account is frozen and that you will be permanently suspended if this is not fixed within 60 days and your will not get paid.

4. Within the email from etsy it has all this legal mumbo jumbo saying you need to all these things - DON'T

5. Etsy then removes your star seller badges.

6. To Re-activate your shop change the "Legal Tax Payer Name" under your tax information on etsy to your the "Legal Tax Payer Name" that is listed with the IRS.

7. Shop is finally open with no Star Seller Badges and 1.5 days of lost revenue.

So I'm going to lose all my star seller badges too?  Bummer.....  They should fix this.  WE did nothing wrong -- it was THEIR system update....    P.S. Thanks so much for your help to others in the same boat.

@ModAngie -- Since it's Etsy's update that did this, is there any way to restore Star Seller badges to sellers who were affected by the recent Etsy update that did this to all your good, hard-working, long-time Etsy sellers?

Thank you for keeping us all informed, I'm so sorry this happened to you. In addition, it sounds like many other sellers could find themselves in the same situation, this site has become exhausting to sell on. Please let us know if Etsy reinstates your SS badge, as they 100% should!

Yay!  My shop is up and running again.  My listings were back but  I was still seeing "Your shop is suspended" and "please take these steps to verify your information" on my Shop Manager dashboard.  I logged out, logged back in, and all of the stuff about suspension and needing to take other steps went away.   

Sadly, I am apparently not considered a "star seller" any more, even though I have met all of the parameters in the past, for months and months.  POOF.  All of that hard work is apparently for nothing, because of an Etsy update.  Not surprising, but disheartening for sure.  

Etsy support (via chat) says I'll be getting the Star Seller badges back, but can't get me a timeframe.  I now also notice that after working to be placed high in searches, my shop is all but unfindable.  I used to be on the first or 2nd page on a search; now I'm down many, many pages.  So apparently all that info was lost too.

@ThePathologicalDyer "So I'm going to lose all my star seller badges too?" Star Seller takes a while to reappear. It is already back for @fabricfetish 

Being closed for any reason always affects standing in competitive searches. It may come back for you, but your best bet is to drive traffic & sales to your shop for a few days to get it restarted. Anything that improves your standing in Etsy's various algorithms - including getting reviews - can help with this.

So it basically was Etsy's fault doing this update that switched out your tax paper name?
Why would Etsy do an update that switched out tax payer names?  Geez.......SMH!

Then all the issues with expiring listings not set to auto-renew that were renewing anyway and sellers not being charged.

Seems Etsy employees aren't paying attention as to what is going on here at all.
Making updates that effects the finance section is just stupid IM.

Etsy has been removing select listings from my shop for a couple years now. I have never been able to get a clear answer from management about what their reason is. I recently had a long chat session with the bots and add supposedly humans (?) and was told maybe I was being accused of intellectual property infringement and the person or robot suggested that I do a Google lens search on the Deactivated listing. I did the search and found a listing on Amazon in a Chinese Amazon store that was using my exact pictures copied and pasted from my listing. I think Etsy is using bots to search the web and deactvating my listings when they find a match. The problem is this last time I received an email from management notifying me that next time this happens my shop will be suspended. Also they are telling me that I will not longer be eligible for Star seller badges. I've tried everything I know to o resolve this but have so far gotten no help from management. I've been selling on Etsy for 15 years and have over a thousand listings and 3500 sales but still no support. I feel very disrespected and unappreciated. Etsy sales account for over half of my annual sales the rest are from exhibition. Very disappointed and scared that the bots are doing this to us and people are not helping. I hope someone In the community or in management will help stop this from happening.

@stonefeverjewelry you need to prove to Etsy that you have done nothing wrong. It's probably time to lawyer up, before they close you for good.
