I am not sure what is going on but etsy has deactivated all my listings. And of course I am not seeing the blue chat bubble. Anyone else???
To be fair those listings have been posted for free for various amounts of time. I had some that expired in Dec. and I never noticed the dates. I can renew them now or wait until they are deactivated and renew them..or possibly renew some myself and then some later after deactivation. This has happened BEFORE and you think they would have fixed the issue but apparently not. That does not instill a lot of confidence in Etsy.. @AnythingTexasVintage
CindyLou, what does "pin your post on the cause now" mean? Sorry to be brainless, it's a stressful day!
@weekendjewelry1 the OP stated that they got an email about their ID not being verified, and they cannot get it to work. That would seem to be the likely cause of this issue.
@weekendjewelry1 I think she meant to mark that comment as a solution (so it will pin it to the top as the cause).
Just got this, I went and renewed the affected listings.
We recently uncovered a bug that kept some of your listings from expiring every four months as they should. This means you were never charged the $0.20 renewal fee for 250 of your listings.
You don't need to do anything, and you won't be charged past renewal fees for these listings. In order to correct this issue, we’ll need to manually expire the 250 affected listings in your shop on April 1.
While you don’t need to take any action, if you'd like to keep these listings active past April 1 consider turning on auto-renew for all your listings at once. You can view your affected listings in the Listings section of your Shop Manager—they will appear at the top with an expiration date in the past.
For more details on how to renew your listings, visit our Help Center.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you for being a part of our community,
The Etsy Team
OMG! That is just insane!
It’s concerning that a bug affecting billing and listing visibility apparently went unnoticed for this long—and is only now being addressed. There’s no clear explanation of when this started, how they caught it, or what measures are being taken to ensure it doesn’t happen again. It also feels a bit off that Etsy is just going to expire listings en masse. Given the scale of the change, I would expect more detailed information, including when this bug began, how it was identified, and what steps are being taken to prevent similar issues in the future.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’d like more transparency here. Especially when it comes to something that impacts how our shops perform and what we’re charged (or not charged) for.
@GroundZeroCreations This bug has existed for years; many of us discussed it in the forum. My one affected item eventually sold, but that doesn't happen to everyone.
It didn't really affect listing visibility in recent years, as recency isn't a big part of any algorithms here any more. Plus sellers who were actually affected got away without paying years of listing fees. (I am kind of impressed that Etsy isn't charging everyone LOL) Most sellers aren't going to open a ticket as no renewal fees was a nice bonus, and any seller really wanting to "fix" the issue could have just renewed the items manually at any time before now.
The problem is that no one at Etsy takes sellers seriously any more, so if a bug like this is widely reported, there is no one reading it. We used to be able to open a ticket and it would eventually get to the correct engineer, but those days are long gone.
I'm also impressed (& surprised) that Etsy isn't charging for all those backlogged fees. Even though it was their glitch, I know there have been forum posts in the past where sellers were caught off guard by being charged in bulk for this listing bug.
This knowledge is even more disquieting. Why would any publicly traded company tolerate this type of mishandling of finances! This should have been fixed a long time ago.
As for me, I only have a few listings that I set to auto-renew. I want to make a conscious decision as to whether I want to pay that 20 cents to keep it active.
But the bottom line, Etsy needs to concentrate on fixing actual defects in the site and not the constant nonsense we see.
@CanningCrafts "forum posts in the past where sellers were caught off guard by being charged in bulk for this listing bug."
I switched to manual renewal reading those posts. Etsy is not charging this time because this bug got so big, sellers would be slammed with big retroactive listing fees. It's so "kind" of Etsy to just deactivate.
@fabricfetish I suggest checking with the IRS about your EIN number. Don't assume something didn't happen on that end. With things that are getting touched at the IRS it is possible your information has inadvertently been messed with. I certainly hope this is not the case but given Washington.....
@NanaLetha since you asked. I was frantically cutting fabric as i am so behind due to having to deal with all of this and didn't think about it and relisted a fabric. And it is showing up in my shop, so now I am totally confused. Do I relist all 3,000 plus listing? Will etsy just deactivate them tonight?!?! Meanwhile I am out so much revenue.....
I see the one item but still no payment methods on your home page or if I add that item to my cart.
Buy it now is not showing on that listing either. I only see "add to cart".
I wouldn't relist all those listings since you still don't have any payment methods available.
I wouldn't be surprised that Etsy deactivates this one listing you just renewed.
@vintageNCtreasures This is so odd. I just double checked and everything under Finance/Payment Settings show verified and lists all the payment I accept.
@fabricfetish that is odd since I'm not seeing payment methods on your home page.
Maybe that is why I'm "not" seeing Buy it Now on the listing.
If I add that one item to my cart I see this:
"How you'll pay"
"All payment methods for this shop are temporarily unavailable."
Wait, you were able to relist a listing etsy deactivated? Did it and the other deactivated listings say Deactivated by Etsy in red? That's how listings etsy deactivates show up in listing manager and the system won't allow you to reactivate them until etsy releases them.
Or did you create a new listing?
This is all very odd.
@vintageNCtreasures on the phone with etsy now. I by mistake marked your response as "accept as Solution" Sorry it has been a really long day.
No problem, I think you can unmark my message as a solution.
Hope you get some help from the call back or at least they'll send your info to a team specialist.
@WitticismsRus It was from an order I received 2 days ago and was processing. The item was showing sold-out but I had more in-stock so I relisting it.
@fabricfetish ahh ok that makes more sense now. Do all the others say deactivated by etsy in red?
@WitticismsRus Yes all my other listings are under the deactivated label in listings with a red "Deactivated By Etsy"
I just went through the process like I was going to purchase but there are no payment options.
Here is what I see

@GroundZeroCreations @Yes it seems that Etsy wiped out my payment options as well. When I look on my side everything looks as it should.
Does anyone know if you contact etsy by chat does it automatically log a ticket? Customer Service never used those words so I am unclear if i need to do something else.
You can check in shop manager.
Go to Shop Manager > Help >Contact Us.
Once there look up top right side for your avatar and click it. (it may also say Log in, if so then log in) Once you click the avatar you should see a drop down with My Support Requests as an option. Click that and it will take you to a page with all your support tickets. Live Chat sessions/issues do not always show up there in my experience. You may need to open an email ticket to be sure which is what I would suggest anyways since the live chat and phone folks are just a call center and likely won't be able to help with your issue.
