Error in the messaging

The username you have entered is not a valid Etsy user.

Either they closed their account or Etsy closed it.

It is likely their account to be closed. Refresh the page. If needed you can contact Etsy's support.

@LoveInEveryFrame: The "User Name is Invalid" advisory usually means that the account has been closed (either by the user or by Etsy). Just in case, you should make sure to mark the message as SPAM (at last report you cannot do that using the seller app only a browser, even your mobile browser, or the buyer app) so it does not affect your stats.

Usually means it wasn't a valid customer, but a scammer, did they ask for email to complete order as they were having a problem purchasing?
