Hi, I received a question about one of my items and when I try to respond I get an error message that says, The username you have entered is not a valid Etsy user. I tried from both the app and desktop. Same message comes up. Any idea why this is happening?

Re: Error Message when Trying to Respond to Customer Message
Try closing down and rebooting to see if there is an error.
Not sure what to do otherwise except maybe talk to Etsy to see if there is a glitch with your user name.

Re: Error Message when Trying to Respond to Customer Message
Yeah, I went back in and tried again and that's the message that came up. Weird.

Re: Error Message when Trying to Respond to Customer Message
As a new seller you may be the target of scammers. It’s quite likely Etsy has deleted the account. Did the message ask for your email address?

Re: Error Message when Trying to Respond to Customer Message
@WeWereMadeWhole They then send you a regular email that looks like it's from Etsy, but it's fake. It'll ask for your banking details with the excuse that they need it to complete the transaction. If you give it to them, they then clean out your bank account.

Re: Error Message when Trying to Respond to Customer Message
I had a sale that took a while to be processed. The sale was for a vintage solid gold ring. Right after that I paid for printed the label and paid for extra insurance, I offer free shipping and I paid for insurance because the price was $300 for the ring. Immediately I get a message from the buyer asking if I can ship it to another address in FL, buyer's address was in PA. She said it was a gift for her mother. I replied saying no, I already paid for the label and preferred to send it to the address Etsy provided. I copied some info from Etsy saying the buyer needs to change the address and it could be fraud. Then she got nasty so I canceled the order. She acted like she was mad about the thing I sent about fraud. She said she would just order something from another store. But Etsy seller protection only covers you if you ship to the address the buyer provides through Etsy, not through a message later. Then I tried to send her a message with more info from Etsy and I got that error message. So they must have cancelled her account.
