ETSY reverification

what a load of bollocks. we were told in an email last night 'you have 7 days' to upload a new govt ID or we'll put you on holiday mode.

so I uploaded it.

And was promptly put on holiday mode. 

Holiday time and they cut us off.

Grr!  There must have been an anomaly for that to happen.  Mine just went through okay. 

Have you already entered your UTR in the Additional Tax Payer Information under Finances - Legal & Tax Information?

If you have not, then this will be the reason as Etsy is now obliged to divulge your income to HMRC via your UTR.  If you haven't, then add it is straight away and hopefully that will speed up the verification.

The strange thing was, when I went to verify what they asked for (personal government ID), a window popped up, along the lines of 'you need to enter your personal ID, and the address should match XYZ (the business address); rather than my home address, and saying I needed to add 7 documents. 

It made no sense at all.

This is normal. You have uploaded so Etsy needs to verify.  They cannot let you sell in case the verification fails.

During the time you had to upload, yes your shop remains open.

Once the information is uploaded then Etsy automatically places a shop on vacation mode.

Do you know how long this process usually takes? Mine said that up to 48 hrs but that has long gone and i'm still in holiday mode.

The process is retarded and appears to be run by fu@ckheads. I received an 'all clear' email shortly after uploading. This, of course, ran contrary to the reality (shop in holiday mode). 

As to why they do this as the holiday season approaches....

This has been coming for a long time, meaning that there has been plenty of time for etsy to do this well before now.

@NaturalandNoble  Your shop is open, I just added something to cart and it all seemed OK.  Lovely shop too!  I entered my tax UTR ages ago but Etsy asked for it again at the weekend so they seem to re-verifying the info.  Hope it is now sorted out for you.

Thank you!  Yes we did ours only 4 months ago when we moved premises. 

Quite why they wanted to repeat it so close to the holiday season is questionable.
