Does my shop's age effects my algorithm?
Hi everyone, I sell personalized handmade jewelry on my Etsy page for 2.5 years. Unfortunately I couldn't built a traffic here, I started this journey so spontaneusly without knowing anything(marketing, argorithm, trend, SEO etc.) and I messed up.
This summer I decided to make a come back and I studied well in my lesson this time, I will continue to run my page consistently and a lot more professional. But I have concerns that my failed past on Etsy would effect my algorithm in a bad way.
Will it kill my traffic on the searches? Or what else I can do?
I don't wanna give up on Etsy but I am highly worried about the dead past of my account. I really need an advice from you Etsy Community.
THANKS FOR ATTENTION

Re: Does my shop's age effects my algorithm?
Brand new shops do get a little boost but I don't think it would make a difference if you started fresh or stayed with this shop. What you need to do (new shop or not) is get a good ranking quickly. If you plan to sell what's in your shop now you might have a very, very hard time doing that - there's literally 1000s of sellers here who stock that type of jewelry, often the exact type.
To succeed here in jewelry now you will need to offer something no one else does, catering to trends while still being different, with many niche searches you can be in, competitive prices and probably quite a lot of advertising to get a chance at being seen.

Re: Does my shop's age effects my algorithm?
No, but your shop isn't complete and info says that Etsy penalizes shops in search that aren't.
also, I've seen those 'name necklaces' all over the place. I suggest that trend may be fading and to get a boost, you need to make different items. Also posting a video of you handcrafting these would be a good idea. So many things look mass produced in so many shops, that I like to see 'making videos' as it helps me figure out who is a real maker and...who is not.
I support 'real' only.

Re: Does my shop's age effects my algorithm?
What do you exactly mean by "your shop isn't complete"?
Do you mean the announcement and the "about shop" thing down below everything on the shop page?

that, and everything that the Platypus said below me.
solid 14k gold would be a lot more expensive than the price you are promoting.
so I know they aren't. But the regular customer could think they are getting a deal, but nope...

Re: Does my shop's age effects my algorithm?
It is NOT your shop's age.
It is most likely the deceptive way you market your items.
For example:
"14k Solid Gold Name Necklace" for $18.41US.
Then the Details say "Materials: Silver"
And the description says
" High-Quality Solid 925 Sterling Silver.
• Silver, Gold and Rose Gold color varieties."
So what is it??? Solid 14K gold? Sterling Silver? Nickel laced "German silver"? Pot metal??
I have no idea what a customer would actually receive.
