I have to wonder about Etsy and their Shipping ideas times, do they really think that they are only 5 Business days 9 to 5, this is what it looks like to me as a seller, which does make seem like it takes 3 weeks for the buyers to receive their item. Buyer buying an item from me this weekend would ship Monday 4th and latest receiving would be the 15th., being Canada or the USA yet Etsy has it arriving on the 26th of April delivered. Where do they get this time as I have 1-3 days to ship usual within 2 days, and 6 to 10 day to receive and usual 7/8 days received. The longest times for shipping and change any time is International, which USA is not considered in there they have basically same as Canada shipping times arrival. They are messing with my times that are in Policies and Announcement and I have stuck to them, this is no way to run a business when, with a Platform, that keeps trying to run micro manage your shop, that they know nothing about. Who want to wait for 3 weeks, when you know they are under ten days. No wonder sales have been down for a lot of people, with Etsy giving false times for delivery.
I have the opposite problem in that Etsy puts delivery times which are too short for international parcels to get from the UK to the US, making buyers angry when they don't get the item when Etsy says they should. That then leaves the seller open to negative feedback for something which is not their fault.
Thanks for the advice. I've now done that as well, so at least buyers have a more realistic idea of delivery times, even though one can never categorically guarantee them. I wonder how long it will be before Etsy closes that loophole.
I'm in Italy, my only option as shipping service is "other" because for Etsy Italian Post, DHL, FedEx and so on do not exist in my Country LOL!
A couple of days ago to create a custom listing I duplicated one of my shipping profile, added my zip code, written some random EDT, cancelled a lot of Country and published the listing. Today I wanted to edit 2 existing listing, so I linked them to this new profile. Worked, saved my changes.
Then I decided to edit the shipping profile. It took hours, adding Country, checking cost and delivery time for a lot of them where I sell with a Printing partner. I saved multiple time and everything seemed to be right... but guess what? After more than 6 hours correct prices and edt are still not "live"!! Great waste of time!
@cindylouwho2 I was wondering, what you think will happen to shop that cannot select a shipping service / carrier? How Etsy will recalculate our delivery times or consider us? Not taken into account by the algorithm?
@LaSardinaRosa if you can't select a carrier, you can use "Other", and then you enter the estimated times yourself.
Right now the only official effect on search is the estimated delivery time filter, but during the 4th quarter call Silverman said that estimated delivery times were added to search that quarter. I've spent 3 weeks trying to get a straight answer out of Support, but of course they just rely on the out-of-date help pages so I don't feel confident in getting real information.
US sellers eventually were forced to add times or their items were deactivated upon renewal, so I doubt we will be able to get out of this. It would be nice if Etsy actually told us what was going on and gave us a warning/deadline, as they did with Americans.
I am having the same issue. It’s been 7 days that I have been unable to add new listings or edit existing ones. Basically, it’s asking me to reenter my origin postal code (which has not changed on my end). And when I enter the same postal code I always use, it won’t save the code (as if it’s wrong but it’s not) and therefore I cannot save the listing/changes.
I have contacted customer support several times and have not gotten any updates in several days. And the issue is not fixed.
I have a bunch of new pieces lining up to sell but I can’t list them and nobody has been able to help.
I am having the same issue! Haven't been able to renew my listings or to post new ones, it keeps saying "Enter a valid postal code". Can someone help me please!
Oh my goodness, thank you! That worked. It's been more than a week of messaging Etsy and nobody there will help me. I just changed the Shipping Service field to "other" for every single location I send to, and it worked! Makes no sense, since it was my postal code that it would not accept. Clearly a glitch on their end, and yet customer support won't even write back to me with a status update. Somehow this fixed it. Thanks for your help!
Like most I chose not to add a carrier to delivery profiles to avoid inaccurate delivery dates being added to my listings, but I have also been forced to do so. Thankfully there is still the option to choose other and put in custom dates.
I had to laugh though because Etsy is so clearly out of touch with reality. They use Royal Mails International 5-7 days to calculate, but as RM states that is the number of days they estimate to get the item to Customs of the destination country. NOT how long it takes to deliver.
Some countries are still placing items in quarantine for a designated number of days, and many are dealing with staffing issues. I currently have a parcel that after 2 ½ weeks still hasn’t officially reached Canada.
YES! The same problem is so frustrating. I emptied the cache, changed the browser to Chrome, changed it back to Safari, nothing makes a difference. The zip code in shipping profile constantly reverts to 12345. I've asked for help, and
Etsy says I've been helped, but searching I find nothing, again and again. The time wasted in setting up an item is really turning into far too many hours; it's only at the end of a posting that I fund out it needs the3 shipping profile - again. And again.
I'm brand new and this was making me think it was me. I'd get the "free shipping" to stick then it would say invalid zip code. Wouldn't let me add 2nd listing. Then 1st listing that had worked defaulted back to wanting "valid" zip code. Ugh. Mercari is much much easier but I wanted Etsy's clientele since it fits better with what I sell plus it's worldwide. It looked like Etsy would help mevwiyh customs forms bit now I'm wary. Not liking these glitches at all. I've been trying fir hours and hours. Maybe not even worth it? Frustrated....
Is there a solid fix for this issue? I have one product that won't let me save my origin postal code - every other listing updated fine, but not my best-selling item.
