It is now 2 weeks since two of my listings were deactivated by Etsy claiming they were in violation of Etsy's seller policy (ie. not handmade, vintage or craft supplies) and I have still not received a reply to clarify what exactly is wrong with them so that I can check other listings are compliant. It has been suggested that I post my request for specific clarification in the Forums in the hope that someone will investigate and respond more quickly.
One listing is for a paperback craft book of Christmas cross stitch patterns. In my view this is 'Craft Supplies' as buyers are able to use the patterns to create their own handmade cards or use the designs however they see fit. I do not understand why it is any different to a knitting or crochet pattern.
The other Listing is Peter Rabbit cellophane party/gift bags. In my opinion this is 'Party Supplies' although I am beginning to wonder whether it is more about 'Peter Rabbit' than the cello bags themselves but, again, more specific reasons for deactivation than the generic auto-response received 2 weeks ago is required.
In addition, the listing fees have been credited but for two different amounts - one for 17p + 3p VAT, the other for 15p + zero VAT. Please explain the reasoning behind this too.
Many thanks.

Peter Rabbit is trademarked, this is he owner of the trademark
Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd.20 Vauxhall Bridge Road, London, SW1V 2SA, United Kingdom
... if it was IP violation, you should have had an e-mail notification, check your spam folder.
....
was the Christmas cross-stitch the original book, and was it in the supplies category?
can't think of anything else with this, unless you used keywords that were trademarked, but which weren't relevant to the book - which sometimes can happen if you copy a listing, rather than create a new one.... and forget to double check
.....
with the fees, they range between 15p and 17p, depending on exchange rate from 20c
not sure about the VAT, books are exempt from VAT - but not sure if that applies to the fees for selling too, that sounds a bit strange though
If the Peter rabbit bags were actually a license product from the trademark company, then they'd would be allowed to be sold here under Party Supplies.
Now if the OP was using Peter Rabbit on gift bags they made, then NO they couldn't use Peter Rabbit to sell them.
They only refund the listing amount that was billed at the original time of listing. No matter how many times it has been renewed, or quantity of that item sold. Been there, got that story from Etsy. So I guess your zero vat refund was an old listing pre-vat on Etsy days?
The deactivated items? Keep pushing back if they are eligible items to be sold on Etsy. Keep responding to the same email from Etsy until you get a real response. It took me 3 weeks for my last etsy-go-round. Good Luck.
If you had anything in the book listing that referred to specific items - i.e. Elf on The Shelf or anything similar, that might be the problem. Otherwise, it should be okay.
Was the Peter Rabbit party supply actually a licensed item from the trademark holder of Peter Rabbit?
If so, then it shouldn't have been removed.
Or did you make these and put "Peter Rabbit" in the title/tag/description?
If so, you can't use a trademarked name to sell any items you made, supplies or otherwise.
As for the Christmas book, were you selling the original book? Or did you made copies of it and were selling it? If so you can't do this.
Did you mention any names/words, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Ivory, Amber in the tags/title/description to describe either item.
Did you buy chance list either item as "handmade"?
If so that might be why.
You can't put "handmade" on supplies made by another /person/company (only if YOU made it).
You have to put "another person or company" on the part that asks "Who made it" if you did not make it.
Thank you all so much for your helpful replies and suggestions.
The cross stitch books are brand new and have been listed in the 'Supplies' category for several years. The name of one of the patterns is 'Hanging Baubles'....maybe the bots have suddenly flagged up 'hanging' !!
The Peter Rabbit bags are an authorised licensed product and they do carry the Frederick Warne & Co trademark and copyright notice. I do not claim they are handmade and have not received an IP violation email.
Guess I'll have to be patient a while longer...
Thanks again.
