Customer orders not appearing on my sales records despite the customer being given an order number

I've had 2 customers this week asking where there items are they purchased a few weeks ago, they have given me a valid Etsy order number and even screenshots from their account showing my item they purchased and order number.

Further searching on my seller side shows I never received these orders and the customer was never actually charged for them

Has anyone else experienced this recently?

Sometimes the buyer has you confused with another seller. Sometimes it's a scam attempt to see if they can get you to send them something free.

Worth noting that screenshots are easy to fake via editing the html in browser.
