Custom Web Address

Hi there,

I switched a custom web address (www.theliterarylabrador.com) from Square Space to my Etsy Pattern site. It is time for the address to renew. I have been receiving notifications from Square Space but my address currently works only on Etsy. Does any one know if the address gets renewed by Etsy as I do not want to lose this custom .com web address. Thanks in advance for any help.

If I understand your plight, you paid for a custom URL by using/paying to use Square Space. You do not have a shop in the Square Space universe...just the name (URL) but redirect traffic for the URL to your Etsy shop.

If that is correct, you must renew through Square Space.  If that is not correct, consider contacting Square as quickly as possible to keep traffic going to your Etsy shop through the Square gate.

You need to renew where you bought it. It will still work on Etsy.

And you need to do it soon. It expires on 8/22

And you might want to consider transferring the domain name to a different registrar.

Just a general recommendation, if you’re thinking ahead…

Always register domains on a site/service that is different than your web site host.

Excellent recommendation - and if some place gives you a "free" domain for a year then transfer it at renewal time.

It does not get renewed by Etsy. You must renew it with Square Space, who is your URL registrar.

ETA: Or move it to another registrar and renew it there. Etsy is not a domain name registrar so they can not manage your URL.
