Custom Listings

When creating a custom listing with the new sidebar thing, it doesn't have a place to upload an image. Also, is sending an error and not letting customer view their custom listing or check out. Tried to create a custom listing through regular new listing page and that didn't work either.

Re: Custom Listings

Instead of a custom listing, I always make a regular reserved listing and send the buyer the link. Seems to work better.

Re: Custom Listings

There is an simple solution to that, once custom listing is made go to your listings, new private one should be as the first one, simply click on it and chose button share, you will be given link, send that to the customer and they will be able to buy it this way

Re: Custom Listings

Yes, you can edit after publishing  in Messages (but before the customer purchases) by going to Shop Manager - Listings - filter on the right to "Expiring latest" - click and edit - add your own pictures, you'll also need to fill in the shipping.  Also a good idea to send your own link to the Buyer, because you are among many who have reported the link Etsy sends doesn't work.

The only upside of the new Custom Order set-up is the ability to create more than one Custom from the same convo thread - which is something we've been asking for, for years.  Thanks Etsy!

The rest is just a hot mess, and I'm with @NanaLetha  - it's just easier to make a regular listing titled "Reserved for XX" - publish, pay the 20 cents, and send the link to the customer.

Re: Custom Listings

Hi, I've done quite a few custom orders, in fact, I did one last week! Agreed, the initial interface is extremely basic, and estimating shipping costs without the customer's address is less than ideal. The thing that has always worked best for me, is to update the listing right after it's created and then add any listing photos. It normally notifies the customer in the message window after each update.

In fact, there's almost always an error that the shipping information is incomplete, so you'll have to go back and set the carrier and processing time. Perhaps you can use table rate shipping here too... never tried it?  As another seller suggested, I've found it's less of a hassle to create a public listing and earmark it for that particular customer with their name in the title. That way the shipping cost would reflect the customer's location. Hope that helps!

Another thing to look at for, once the customer purchases the item, you will not be able to edit the listing or update the photos and you've established a contract.

Re: Custom Listings

I figured out what happened. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE. Customer's name was "Chanel". Listing was getting kicked back for copyright infringement. Huge tidal wave of repercussions I had to deal with... still dealing with. Literally the worst experience I've had on this platform to date. (12 years)
