Coupon Code - Currency Question/Help

I'm located in Canada & my store & currency is listed in CAD. I have a customer who I gave a coupon code too but they are having issues stating:  "code at checkout and it said I had to change my currency to USD." They are also located in Canada. So I am just unsure what and how to fix this as there's no specific option to edit currency on the coupon codes themselves etc. I just assumed you made a code and it would work universally? But no?

Thanks in advance!

They don't need to change their currency. Your code will work for anywhere you ship. They may have been adding it in wrong.

Re: Coupon Code - Currency Question/Help

I did give them a direct link. But i am not 100% certain atm exactly how they were trying to apply the code. It still doesn't make sense to me why it would ask to change currency when trying to apply a code for them though

Hi, how did you change the shop currency? I cant see where to do this? I want printify and Etsy to be same currency otherwise risk price inconsistency with exchange rates?

@MugdOffMugs  be aware, etsy will charge you 2.5% to convert it to what they pay you in, if you list in a different currency

shop manager - finances - payment settings - currency tab.

Re: Coupon Code - Currency Question/Help

I gave someone a coupon code and they kept telling me it did not work. The code has been active for over 5 years and used lots. I finally gave up in trying to explain where and how to use it and refunded them the amount of the code.

Oh my! Yes, it is difficult to truly help without seeing exactly what they are doing at checkout. I will keep this solution in mind after an attempt at troubleshooting with them. Much appreciated.

Re: Coupon Code - Currency Question/Help

@Ooopy

Could they possibly be trying to enter the code in the wrong place.  If it is a coupon from your shop, it needs to go in the space to the left of the check-out box.  If it is a coupon that they got from Etsy for some reason, then it needs to go right under where it says "proceed to checkout."  I can see circumstances where the currency could cause problems if they are trying to enter a shop coupon in the Etsy coupon space.

Re: Coupon Code - Currency Question/Help

I know this happens with etsy gift cards.

If they were given a gift card in USD they have to checkout in USD to use it.

But this doesn't apply to coupon codes given by a shop.
