Confused about Star Seller

Jump to solution

I am unsure why I didn't get Star Seller for this past month, and wanted to see if anyone could help me understand why.  It says that the reason that I didn't get the star seller badge was that I didn't have $300 in sales.

I had 1 order that was ordered on May 31 and completed June 1 for $22 (I wasn't sure if this counted), 2 orders that were ordered and completed in June for $15 and $38, 1 order that was ordered in June and completed in July for $18, 3 orders that were ordered and completed in August for $98, $25, and $62.90, and 1 order that was ordered in August but hasn't been sent yet (and isn't due to be sent yet so I wasn't sure if this counted) for $25.

The order for $62.90 was ordered on August 31 and completed on August 31.  On August 30th, the star seller page said that I had 7 orders and a total sales of $241.  When you add up everything except for the $62.90 order, I had 7 orders and a total sales of $241, so it seems like all of those orders counted except for the $62.90 order (even though that order was completed on August 31).  Does anyone know why the August 31 order for $62.90 wasn't counted towards my total (which would have brought me above $300 and given me the star seller badge)?  Thanks in advance!

@ArchCreativeJewelry  :  First, you have entered the dreaded time zone trap. It seems that Etsy uses UTC for most things, but many "reports" are based on your time zone. August 31 to you may be September 1 to Etsy. Secondly, looking at other posts in this forum it seems that the last few days of a month routinely get rolled into the next month when doing Star Seller calculations.

The actual cut off seems to be a day or two before the end of the month. They should be more transparent about that.

Etsy has said from day 1 of Star Seller that it takes 24 to 48 hours to update.  I've seen longer.  So, you can't count on sales or messages or anything for the last 2 or 3 days of the month to make you a Star Seller.

I thought they meant that the star seller page that shows you your current stats would take 24-48 hours to update, which is why when I would get star seller, they wouldn't notify me until the 2nd or 3rd of the month.

But thanks so much for letting me know about not relying on the last couple of days to qualify for star seller!

I understand the general rules and requirements to be a star seller.  Was there something specific you were trying to point me to in that article?

Not pointing to a certain issue in the article.  I was just trying to help, in case you, or any other reader, didn't already know.

Have a nice labor day weekend.

As much as it annoys me that Etsy is doing things this way (and not notifying sellers about it), I really appreciate your answer letting me know about this!!

Etsy doesn't really go by UTC, they cut off whenever they feel like it! This happened to me with reviews.
