when trying to list an item the categories do not display usable information. I am a vintage seller and am trying to list a candy dish for sale, the potions it gives are unrelated to my item. I typed candy dish and received these choices:
Candles
Baking & Cake Decorations
Toy Storage
Bar Soap
Pet collars & Leash Sets
all of these are not acceptable categories to properly display my item in.
Use the duplicate feature on another candy dish. Then edit the new listing. The category should carry over.
Did you try just 'dish"?
I experienced the same thing yesterday. I was trying to list a tin litho toy boat and the categories that came up were crazy. They really wanted me to list it as a sex toy, but I politely declined, haha. I had to settle for Pretend Play as nothing else was remotely close. I figured it was some random glitch, but if it's still happening today, maybe not.
I too sell vintage, the category placement sections on the new listing template seems to be not doing its best to list my items in the proper areas so buyers can find them in the search engine. Opps, forgot the search engine is still broken. never mind.
A lot of us are experiencing a lack of good categorizing - for example, my printable calendars are categorized as Party decor!
I have started to edit my listings. The category Writing Paper is lumped in with Party supplies. So, I am changing to Journals. Not the best, because printable lined writing paper isn't exactly the same as a journal, but it's closer than party decor.
