Cannot @ people on forums

So I've been trying for a while to mention people using the @ symbol on Forums, but people have been saying that it doesn't notify them and there is no horizontal line underneath their names. I wonder if someone knows how to fix this?

@JustJoannaGoods: We just did you and it worked. Are you using the selections provided or are you typing in the user-id?

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

@BagmakerSupply Thanks for the reply! What I meant was me mentioning others. For example, I tried you and it doesn't show up with a horizontal line. I've tried both ways and it doesn't work.

@JustJoannaGoods Maybe you're not doing it correctly. Explained here (scroll down a little way):

@JustJoannaGoods

You have a space between the @ symbol and the shop name.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

Do you use the @ and wait for the drop down menu?  If they aren't listed. do you type?  If you make an error then it doesn't reveal the one to select and if backspace edit then it doesn't work.   I have experienced what you are seeing.  If an error is made in typing the shop name then there won;t be the line.  It's quirky.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

@JDTotesnDolls Thanks for the advice! I have tried to wait as well as to type and it still isn't working.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

No, it's definitely not working for you.

You need to type "@", then wait for the drop down box, then select the name. Do NOT type. And do NOT hit space after the @ symbol.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

@JustJoannaGoods Hi, I wanted to retrace the steps when "atting" you.  I'm using a desktop computer, Chrome.
I was thinking after selecting the person's name from the drop down menu, you needed a Return.  But no, that isn't the case.  It does apply however, when I copy/paste a link (such as from the Seller's Handbook or Help, etc.). If I don't add a Return after the link, there is no line (and no link).

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

@JustJoannaGoods  I should have explained better, sorry. The return is needed only when I copy/paste a link, such as from the Seller's Handbook or from Help, etc.  I thought maybe I had to do the same with "atting" someone on the Forum.  But I don't

So after you "atted" me here, a menu with my name on it never popped up for you?
There have been times when the menu doesn't come up for me until the very last letter of the person's name.  Other times, it comes up earlier.  I don't know the reason.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

You might have to use the workaround that I've had to use a while ago.  @ then type (or c/p their name) with no spaces.  Highlight the @name and then click the underline tool you'll find under the three dots ^^.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

@JustJoannaGoods   It worked for you!  When you "atted" TheVintagePineapple, there is a line under her name now. Yay!

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

No, it didn't work.  Did you check your forum settings?   I don't know what some of them mean, but maybe there's something checked or unchecked that should/n't be?

@ChillwolfArt Nope, I didn't get a notification.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

When I @ It doesn't always have a dropdown. Are you on an app or browser? It may make a difference. Sometimes I have to type it in.

Re: Cannot @ people on forums

Chrome had an update some months back. Make sure you are using the most current version.  I can't view people's shops via their forum drop-down if I am using Chrome. I can't remember if I updated or not..just switched to using MSEdge.
