I have an order that I could not fulfill due to damage.
I cancelled/refunded, but the total sales number did not reflect that, stayed the same. Is this a glitch?
Sale does not show in sold items...
@DatedandAntiquated: "Sale does not show in sold items" An order which you cancelled (and therefore refunded) will be on the 'Completed' tab of your Orders & Shipping page and will be marked as Cancelled. Do you mean that the listing is no longer in 'Sold Out' on your Listings page?
As far as I know, the number of sales on your shop page includes any sales that were refunded and subsequently cancelled. This is because the income from that sale is still income earned, and the refund paid is claimed as an expense at tax time, which offsets the sale income. For tax purposes, all the money paid by all your buyers is income. If a sale is subsequently refunded, the refund paid to the buyer is an expense, along with all fees paid to Etsy and other costs relating to production of your items, shipping, and any other overheads you may have.
In most countries, refunds are a negative sale, not an expense
so if I had £1,000 total in sales, and refunded £100, I would put £900 in income
not £1000 income and £100 expense
Thank you, my past experience is that when a sale is cancelled, I will see the total number of sales drop back to number before. Example 6884, included the sale but did not change back to 6883 after sale was cancelled. Does that make sense?
@DatedandAntiquated The same thing happened to me. In the past, after cancellation the number of sales went back by one. I recently canceled and refunded an order at the customer's request and the number of sales remained the same... and I haven't had any more orders since! and it's been more than two weeks, I'm worried.
