Can't update dispatch by date on order, get orange error bar

Hello  - a customer has requested me to change the dispatch date on her order, to put it later.  No problem, I've done this before - except when I try, it doesn't work and I get the orange error bar of doom at the top of the page - says "an error has occured (undefined), please try later"

Is this a just me problem, or is this an Etsy problem?

You can only edit the dispatch date once, have you tried using a different browser?

This is the first time I'm trying to change the date, I know I can only do once.

Good idea to try different browser, still have orange error though (first time tried Chrome, second time Edge).

You can only change it before the date it is due to ship.  If it is due to ship today then you are too late.

Any more suggestions?  And if I can't fix it what do I do?  As the customer has asked for the order to be sent later, I'll just have to hope Etsy doesn't penalise me too much I guess.

I contacted Etsy last night and asked, the chat representative didn't really know what was going on, they said they'd pass the problem onto tech team who would "email me".  I'll believe that when I see it.

Meanwhile, tried on a different laptop in case it was a "my computer" problem, still got the error bar.

So it doesn't work on Chrome, Edge, laptop, Macbook, I've cleared cookies, signed out and back in again, it is the first time I am attempting to change the date and it's not the last day.

Is there anything else I can try?

I solved the problem!

It's a "don't select 30 days from the drop down because it doesn't like it" problem.  Fewer days are fine.

I have been told in the past that you can only push the date out 3 weeks maximum. 

I have never tried to go beyond 3 weeks--why would they even offer that?  Seems weird but that's Etsy!

@ThePurplePuppy  - I was wondering the same thing about even seeing a 30 day option.

I know many of us suggest that if a shop needs to extend the ship-by date, to always give themselves a cushion no matter what the circumstances. Especially since you can only do this once.

If I saw 30 days that might be my first choice depending on what the buyer was requesting, the "why" of the matter.

Yes it's odd, isn't it.   I wanted to push out as long as I could because Etsy only allows one change - it's easier to then post early from a longer date than to go late from an earlier one.

Why offer an option from a drop down that you are going to reject?  And reject as an unspecified error so the person doing it doesn't know what the problem is?

@ChestnuttVintage   It sounds more like your browser hiccupped than Etsy did.  You can select a longer shipping date but you probably got under the wire.  Later today you most likely could not have changed it.

If you hadn't been able, you can select to ship late and accept the ding or cancel and refund asking the buyer to buy again after you change the date for her.

You can always send them a card in the mail thanking them for their purchase and acknowledging the requested later ship date ... send via FCM Letter (< 60-cents)  so it adds the tracking # which will suffice Star Seller metrics ... then ship the order upon the buyers requested date.
