Can't post to original question. Can only reply if nested.

On the forums, I cannot post an answer under the original question. There is no Reply button to send it to start with, or if there is a button, when I click it the button grays out and says I can't post.

But if I post it as a Nested Reply under someone else's answer, then I can post.

So if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you don't see the Reply button?

You should see a Reply on the left with black writing on the white background and then when you start typing, the Reply button appears.

It says "reply to this post" right above "Remember that posts are subject to Etsy's Community Policy"

If you want to post in the main thread (not nested) you just click in the big reply box at the bottom of the page and start typing. Then there is a reply button under that to submit that reply.

Or you can click the reply button on the first original post, which should auto scroll the page down to the reply box.

Yes, I know how it is supposed  to work. But when I click Reply on the original post, it gives me the reply box but no button to send it. Or it will give various excuses why I can't post, like You don't have permission to reply to this post, and it won't submit it.

But it will send it if I reply to a previous answer, but then it is nested and confusing to that person who often thinks my comment is directed at their post.

The reply box at the bottom of the page won't show a button until you actually click in the box to type something.

Or is it still not showing even when you type in it?

This worked.  I had problems a day ago where the reply button was squirrely.  I had to refresh the page a couple of times to get it to behave.  Maybe that is what you experienced.
