Can't Leave 5-star review without a note

As a buyer, I used to be able to submit a 5-star review without having to write anything as long as I did it on my phone app. This is pretty standard when you order a bunch of similar supplies - rave about the first one or two, and just put the stars for the other 3 of the same type (i.e., headpins in multiple metals or the same yarn in 3 different colors). Now it won't let me leave a review without comment, whether it's on the laptop or the phone. Is this a browser issue, an app issue, or a "me" issue? Or has Etsy changed the policy so NO ONE can leave a rating without a comment? I like to be fair to the sellers I buy from, but I really don't want to have to leave 10 ratings when I only bought 3 types of items.

As a seller, I get a lot of 5-star ratings from people with no additional comment. I'd hate to think I won't be getting reviews at all because they don't want to bother.

From what I have read in the forums, Etsy changed it.

I should probably peek in more often, but it's usually just a long string of topics I've seen ad nauseum ("Why are my sales so low?"), or things I don't care about (digital sales). Or coffee deficiency. Sometimes I just don't have enough coffee to deal with it.

You can use emojis and they count. Try 5 hearts.

I might break down & say something for this one, but I just can't see the sense in doing it for the same headpins in 3 different colors. I mean, really Etsy. No wonder we can't get reviews.

I have a recent 5 Star Review with no comment. As a Buyer, I've always left a comment, and I have some Customers who copy/paste the same comment for all items (with a multiple purchase).

I have too, but the last one was Sept. 28. Maybe they did it after that date, or maybe it's still available on some platforms. If so, I wish I knew which ones!

I usually just ignore the little notification tag, but I would have left a 5-star review if I didn't have to repeat the same thing over & over (& over & over).

I was looking at a shop the other day that had some interesting things.  I looked at their reviews (all 5 stars) but in one of the 5 star reviews the buyer left this verbiage:  I hate that Etsy make us write something about our purchase.

To be honest that made me chuckle.  Just shows how frustrated some buyers are at having to write something.  Felt bad for the seller because they have no control over what Etsy wants in the reviews.

It’s ridiculous that they force you to either comment or not leave a review. Super annoying. I agree with Elizabeth, I would think it would encourage people not to leave a review.

I thought I was the only one.  I hate having to leave a note.  It does get discouraging to leave a note when sometimes we don't have the time to leave a note but simply leave 5 stars.  That would mean much more to sellers rather than having buyers to be discouraged to write a note for a 5 star review.  Etsy, fix it.  Leaving 5 stars should be more than enough and leaving it optional to those who wants to submit a note.   Why make it displeasurable for both sellers and buyers?  Etsy is simply making it harder for sellers.  It's bad enough they're racking up the fees and now the sellers will have a harder time to get that 5 stars review because buyers don't have the time to leave a note but a 5 star review.

I am still getting ratings without reviews and am wondering who the computer whiz is that can do that because I have literally avoided leaving reviews on things I've purchased because I am busy and really have nothing to say about some of the digital items I buy. I can't rave about how fast it came, how well packaged it was, etc. so if I've purchased five of a similar digital item it takes more time and brain power to review it than I may have at the time. I wish Etsy would stop doing what they are doing. But I am going to try the emoji idea because the space bar idea doesn't work anymore.

Yes, I think if you leave a 1 or 2 star review, a comment would be better.

Would also stop people accidentally hitting 1 or 2 star when they actually like the item. A comment saying they like it would show it was in error.

I literally only downloaded the buyers app because it allowed me to leave a review without writing anything. Now I honestly have no reason to actually use the app. I hate having to actually write a review, because I'm not a reviewer. I don't know how to write out my opinions clearly and concisely, and it feels awkward just saying "good [product], it's very nice", especially if I've purchased multiple things (like multiple different stickers) from the same shop.

GUYS I FIGURED IT OUT. 
go to leave the review and enter your stars. Don’t click next. Just swipe the window down and a pop up will come up asking if you want to submit. Done.

I'm a shop owner and  a buyer on Etsy. I don't get many reviews these days and think it is due to buyers not having time to write a review with every purchase. I also, do not like always having to leave a review, I like just giving the stars.  So I am going to try this trick next time.  Thank you!

It's so frustrating if you are buying loads of supplies and each individual set is needing a review.

Not to mention every website asks for reviews, and then some ask for reviews about just the packaging and then just the shipping.

Like we are all bored to tears og leaving reviews for everything... or maybe its just me

I don't mind leaving a good review but I would like it to ask for one when I buy 5 things from one shop instead of 5 reviews separately or a way to dismiss them from the reviews list if I don't want to leave one at all.

Yeah ... for supplies it would be handy to have a ditto function - first review applies to all items in the order.

Buyers should HAVE TO leave a comment on one or two star reviews, rather than hit and run.  That way the seller will know, perhaps what can be improved.  There should be no need for comments on 4 or 5 stars.  The stars say it all.
