None of the links in descriptions seem to be working, be it to a shop section or main shop homepage? All lead to an 'uh oh!' error message.
I recently changed shop name but even the NEW links are faulty? I REALLY don't want to have to go back through every listing to delete or edit backlinks. I've not even finished changing them all over from my old name!
Also, since the change in listing manager on the app, I can't see how to share links to shop sections any more.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
I just tried one on a listing of yours and it works just fine.
Oh? which one please? It seems links to individual listings still work but not Sections or shopfront?
The link was to another item, not a shop section.
Ahh ok
Make sure you are leaving a blank space before and after the link text.
I have
I looked at this listing:
Rose Gauges, Pretty Ear Plugs 3D Tunnels Pastel Pink Flower Pearl Stretchers, Reversible Wedding Bridal Gauged Earrings, Ready Made by Hand
And the link back to your shop gave me the uh oh page.
I looked at your steampunk plugs and the link in the listing to another listing, that one worked fine, but when I went to the shop link towards the bottom, it went back to the uh oh page.
In that same steampunk listing, you have a link to ready made designs, but because only a portion of the link is underlined, it gives me the uh oh page again.
Thank you for looking! That's what I'm seeing too. I'm beginning to think when Etsy 'streamlined' our listings in the app, they removed sections & therefore our backlinks no longer work.
That doesn't explain why main shop links are broken too though. I'm worried because a) it looks unprofessional
& b) if this isn't a glitch, it's going to mean a lot of work for people with backlinks & make it even harder to keep people in our shops
I checked the links in several listings - on mobile browser now. Everything seems to be working for me!
did you check individual listing links or the ones to shop homepage? Homepage links & sections aren't working for me on any browser. Only individual listing links work (Thank you for checking!)
The section ones are formatted incorrectly. You can see it's not going to link because the section part isn't underlined starting at the ? mark. I think you need to add the & after the ? to make them work correctly.
This is what I was getting at in my reply above
I'm beginning to think when Etsy 'streamlined' our listings in the app, they removed sections & therefore our backlinks no longer work.
My section backlinks have always has ?s which I though was odd but they used to work just fine.
And main shop homepage links are fully underlined yet still produce error message?
Thanks for looking
@tildeathstudios Post an example.

The last link (not the gold one) is broken. Same for every main shop link I've tried
The last link worked just fine for me on my desktop. it took me straight to your shop front page.
On my desktop, all links work fine.
Does anyone else see this problem with their section or homepage backlinks?
I clicked on your link and got "bad request".
It looks like you have
https://tildeathstudios.etsy.com?section_id=18413269
but when I use the sections the link looks like this
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/tildeathstudios?section_id=18413269
and the link to your shop is not https://tildeathstudios.etsy.com which gives me an error but https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/tildeathstudios?
So I think the answer is yes the shortened versions do not work. My desktop ones work fine.
Urgh, that's clear as mud then if different people are seeing different things. Thanks anyway, everyone for telling me what you see! Appreciate your time & help X
I tried this link: https://tildeathstudios.etsy.com?section_id=18413269 and it went back to your home page. Note everything after the ? is not included in the link. In your listing the part that was not linked was in a separate line from the first part. It looks like you might have a space before or after the ? that is breaking the rest of the link.
Or maybe Etsy breaks it because you are using a Share and Save link on the Etsy site. I think we are only supposed to use those when we advertise somewhere off the Etsy site. On Etsy, I think you should be writing it like etsy.com/shop/tildeathstudios?section_id=18413269
I think there is an intermittent technical glitch, rather than anything you did incorrectly. The other day, shortly after I put up new listings all in a new section (the ready-made listing videos), a fellow seller let me know that the link in each item description that was supposed to people to the section was giving an error page, but then a couple of hours later, it was working fine.
