Australian Seller problem with shipping profiles on additional items

Hi, Within the shipping profiles there is the option to charge less shipping on an additional item. I figured if I left this blank it wouldn't give a discount on an additional item but seems I am wrong as I sold 2 items yesterday and they paid 1 shipping so I lost $30 as the items are very heavy.

So then I thought if I set up a profile, the charge of an additional item would only relate to other items that have the same profile so I could put the same weighted items within a profile and easily work out a discounted second item for postage but now I think thats wrong too!

My items all weigh different amounts, ranging from 250g up to 15kg, how do I set up these profiles so as not to loose out?

@TheAbandonedBookNook Is calculated shipping an option for you? This would be the best option due to selling items with varying weights. After many years of using shipping profiles with shipping prices I've set up, I'm starting to "experiment" with calculated shipping.

Edited to add ... Looks like Calculated Shipping is still only available in the US & Canada.

Yes I use calculated shipping on eBay and it’s great but Etsy does not offer this to Australia

@TheAbandonedBookNook Here's the Etsy Help article about shipping profiles. Hopefully it will explain everything for you. If you still have questions, just ask and you should be able to get an answer here from someone!

If you leave the "with another item" blank then that means it is free for any additional items.  You need to put a figure in there to cover your shipping if more than one item is bought.

Re: Australian Seller problem with shipping profiles on additional items

Yes I learnt that the hard way. Its difficult as I may have 1 item that weighs 2.5kg so it can go in a prepaid bag, then if someone adds another item of say another 2.5kg then it can possibly still go in the same bag at no extra cost which is great for the customer as essentially they get free postage on the second item presuming it fits in the bag but then if that second item weighed 10kg instead then it would have to change to weighed postage as its over the 5kg limit which could cost a lot more.

I guess its pretty easy when your selling small light weight items but all mine going forward are going to be pretty heavy and all different weights. On top of that I have to price each country separately, it just does not seem simple at all.
