15 yeas on etsy, smooth shipping bage, 4,8 reviews, account was put in reserve with no explanation given (I was told due to privacy they can't tell me why) . Once the order was shipped, and usps shows tracking updates, money are never released untill I message support and somebody in India would go ahead and release them. One order now shows pretransit, however usps shows full tracking details, etsys tech refuses to release MY Money. What kind of nonsense is this?

Your recent reviews likely contribute to the payment reserve algorithm flagging your shop as a risk. Star seller looks at the review average from our previous three months, not at the lifetime of the shop. The star seller data seems to be part of the payment reserve flagging algorithm.
Does Etsy read the reviews or do they just go by the numbers.
This seller has had 8 questionable reviews in the past few weeks but they didn't get bad numbers
1 -2*
2-4*
5-5*
Based on the wording, those 5 stars should have been 1 or 2 stars.
It's nor about recent reviews, the account is on review for a month it is about the fact that when the order is shipped and shows tracking, THE MONEY ARE NOT RELEASED, I HAVE TO MESSAGE SOMEONE IN INDIA TO GET MY MONEY!
Not sure what you mean you have to message someone in India to get your money??
Are they wanting YOU to pay them to do this? IF so it's NOT Etsy, it's a scam.
You're in Canada why do you have to message someone in India for anything?
If you have googled for an Etsy phone #, email, etc, there's a 99.9% chance that the results you get are NOT for Etsy but scam sites set up.
Etsy does not publish a phone # to call nor an email to email them.
These scammers will want you to send a gift card, wire transfer and when you do, your money is gone.
ONLY contact Etsy from the HELP pages and ONLY reply to those emails.
Someone a few weeks ago posted they did this and "etsy" told them to send them a $500 or $600 (I forget exactly the amount but A LOT). gift card to get their money released.
And when the seller did this, the scammers came back and tried to get more money.
Once the order is shipped and shows tracking updates, the money supposed to be released. For each!!! order, I have to message, because the money ARE NOT RELEASED. Eve time I message someone from India with different names, replies to me with some general info on reserve system.
How did you contact these people from India?
How do you know they're from India?
I seriously doubt anyone in India can release your money.
Did you go to the HELP pages on Etsy and you're replying ONLY to the emails you GOT from Etsy?

Where did you get this "Etsy technical support page"? On Etsy.com ? or somewhere else?
Did you google this and clicked on a link from google search?
If so, it's probably NOT Etsy.
In all the times I've contacted Etsy from the HELP pages, I can't ever remember any of Etsy support people state where they are from.
They just state their name and which department they're in.
@FashionTouch The India part is confusing.
About reserve, Etsy may release money if there is tracking. Why are you contacting someone in India? Etsy staff are not in India or are you using Chat and assuming they are in India? The outsourced chat may be but not the ones we email. WE don't know where their outsourced chat are located.
I suggest you use email instead. Are you using the system that allows for USPS shipping? Coming across the border? Or is the system used collecting and then shipping which may mean a delay in response. Can this system be seen by Etsy's Aftership. If not that may be why there is a delay in releasing of the funds.

It may also be because you have non-compliant shop policies. You are shipping to the EU/UK so you need your GDPR, right of withdrawal, and accept returns.
The above article indicates why reserves are being placed. Also a shop should look at the purchase protection eligibility so they are meeting the requirements listed there.
Yes, this is through etsy tech support page.
Be very careful with this. I don't think Etsy would have someone from India releasing your money. You might want to change your password and set up the two step verification number. The email may look like it comes from Etsy support but actually isn't. You might want to change your email address if possible.
I don't think anything scammy is going on, or that the OP needs to worry about their security, in terms of India.
They are just pointing out their displeasure at getting support staffers that aren't American enough.
Agree with @PillowDetails - I interpreted OP's post as a rant about customer service being outsourced to some unknown call center.
Etsy's outsourced chat may be located in India. Etsy never fully disclosed where chat is located.
We are other shop owners here not Etsy admin. All we can offer are suggestions based on our understanding of the Etsy system.
As others have mentioned there may be other reasons why your shop has been placed on reserve heres a link to info in the help section help.etsy.comWhat-is-a-Payment-Account-Reserve . Im supplying this so that you might be able to work out why you have a shop reserve .
If a glitch in the tracking is holding your payment up , I think I saw a post here recently suggesting that you may be able to push this through by going direct to the Aftership portal -maybe another seller will be able to fill in the detail regarding the specifics of what you would need to do here.
India is a euphemism, right?
Yes, it would seem so.
@FashionTouch Are your payment settings set to "daily"? I'm confused. Your shop says you are in Fort Erie, Canada. How is India connected with your account? I don't see a production partner. I'm at a loss.
Ie, The order is shipped, updates shows from usps, money are not released, I contact etsy tech through etsy help page, I get the respond from etsy tech with the name on it, names are abhanavi, shivani etc. The point is, as per policy, once the order is shipped and shows tracking, the money supposed to be released. They never are. I have to message to have them released and wait for those people to respond and release them, takes 2-4 days
Just keep digging that hole.
So, because they have names that aren't Western enough for you, they're automatically from India?
And if they were from India (I'm 99% sure they're not) what difference does that make? They're still fully capable of doing the job they're paid to do and can only follow the rules they're provided.
Sorry to inform you, but the ignorance that is inherent in Etsy's current customer service is not limited to Indian nationals.
I have a VERY German last name. And a very Catholic first/middle name.
I am American.
I am also Italian.
I am also Cherokee.
Names are names and should never be used to try and "identify" what nationality someone is.
Kinda rude, IMO
However, you *do* need to contact Etsy about your funds since everyone here can only guess what the problem is.
etsy says the money "MAY" be released with tracking, not that it "WILL" be released,
it aslo has to be tracking etsy can recognise through aftership,
If your Payment account has a reserve, you may be able to receive the full funds from a sale sooner than 45 days by adding tracking that shows the order in transit.
also, there are a lot of things on your shop that could cause a reserve,
you don't have the reviews badge
and you ship to EU/UK
to comply with policies, which part of the reserve check you need
30 day return policy on all listings
a gdpr policy
your address and e-mail address in sellers details
and tick the trader box next to it.
....
etsy is tightening it's requirements, you need to keep up to date.

We do not share the specific logic or thresholds we use to determine if a reserve is placed on a seller’s account to strengthen our protection against fraudulent account activity.
and
From the policy that's linked in your payment reserve section (all caps entered by myself): If your Payment account has a reserve, you MAY be able to receive the full funds from a sale sooner than 45 days by adding tracking that shows the order in transit.
The key word here is "may". That's not a guarantee, it's a possibility. No one here knows why your shop has the reserve and no one here can answer your questions. We don't know the rules either. Contacting support is the only recourse for information. You'll just have to deal with them not being Western enough for you
