So I have always been a huge seller on etsy and this month has been absolutely horrendous. My sales are down 75-90%. Its honestly like the clock has been flipped back to when i started. I noticed that when i look at my stats many of my items are showing no sales but have sold consistently this month. I am wondering if the algorithm is not calculating sales so its viewing these items as unpopular and not allowing them to show up in the search. I also suspect that some of my items are not indexed. I only say that because i do have things that are not showing up when i search my shop.
Just to clarify i am not pulling a no one looks at my shop, poor me. I have almost a million sales on etsy so when it seems this off, something is definitely wrong.
Only etsy knows if there is a link between the stats showing sales and the algorithm. It's possible etsy isn't seeing those items as sold for ranking purposes, but it's also possible the stats and ranking aren't completely intertwined and it's just a stats problem. The algorithm might pull it's info from somewhere else and see the sales while the stats do not.
If you look at your stats can you find where things generally began declining? Since the launch of gift mode stats are down for lots of shops. From what I've seen in the forums, the buyer app now defaults to gift mode and how to just search etsy in general is no longer that easy to find. That will have an effect on shops without a lot of gift products.
Find the products not indexed in your shop (maybe just a few) and then get in touch with etsy and ask them what is going on with them.
Hoping things turn around for you! 1M sales is awesome!
Did you ever have the star seller badge? If so, did you notice a drop in sales after not having it?
Yes we had a star seller badge but we missed a few messages over the allotment. It honestly did not effect us at all.
I’m not a big player, but all my Etsy stats are off. They show 2023 as the current year, yesterday as the current day, last month as the current month. Anyone else?
@MoseygirlCreations That's weird. My Shop is On Vacation, but I just checked my Stats. It shows Yesterday as July 7, and Today as July 8. *(I'll go back and check Last Month).
My Last 30 Days shows: June 9 - July 8. But it's definitely odd what yours are showing.
@MoseygirlCreations Mine are showing up as they should. But that doesn't mean there's not an issue. Glitches often only impact a portion of sellers.
My stats have been off all year. The number of visits hasn't been correlating with the number at the top for a long time. Maybe they are taking the bots out of the individual listing visits and not removing them from the total stat? Frustrating when this is calculated into your quality score.
I've been noticing more changes (or differences) than I've experienced on Etsy in the past. I assume this is because they are changing their site due to increasing competition, bad press and share holders expectations. Some sellers believe Etsy is going to introduce some type of selling tier soon due to a survey which went out. But this has never been confirmed by Etsy. Regardless, Etsy is absolutely in a state of change. What this means? We don't know. Corporate change is typically difficult. And with Etsy's lack of transparency I expect it will continue to be a challenge to navigate through.
My sales have been terrible this month, the worst this year
I've been on Etsy for 12 years always made multiple 6 figures, this year I am at $38,000 in sales as of August! I should be at $110,000 or more. Something is definitely up with Etsy I hope they get their act together.
