Hello!
In case of refusal of verification, Etsy reserves the right to permanently block you in accordance with the Privacy Policy dated July 24, 2023 (for more information, please visit the website).
We apologize for the discrepancy and thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Etsy Support Service
Absolutely a SCAM. Never take anything off etsy
I just got the same message and went to Etsy for help, this is what they said to me:
I will be sending a report to the team of specialists so that they can do a more thorough investigation of the user who is sending the messages and have the account actioned.

tytyty! Will go to the ETSY FOLDER first, in the future. I appreciate you forwarding it to Etsy proper for investigation.
I've been inundated with similar messages apparently from different versions of Etsy technical support.
They all asked me to verify my email address, as well as telling me orders cannot be accepted, so I was advised them as Spam.
They are now also arriving into my email address, as well as the Seller App and website.
I have not responded to any of them but find them worrying.
Thanks, Pamela . . .it appears that the only legitimate Etsy messages are ONLY to be found on the left side of the Message center under "ETSY FOLDER"--everything else is coming from the client side which scammers are using. Whew-they ruined my morning
@PamelaDickinson when you revive a message in your Etsy messages inbox you are also sent a notification email. That's why they are going to your email inbox as well. Always check on the Etsy website and respond from there (if it's not a scam - which most of them are, especially if you are a newer shop).
Why am I an "Inspiration Seeker" all of a sudden? This is not my way to identify myself....
It's just the way the forum identifies you based on the number of times you've posted.
Oh, thanks for the explanation. I guess it's no bad thing!
Just remember Etsy does NOT need your email, they already have it.
Etsy would never ask you to verfiy anything through a message, a chat, click on a link, QR code, etc.
If anything ever needs updating on your account YOU will see a notice on your shop dashboard/finance page.
If it's not there, nothing needs updating.
A lot of helpful info on the help pages and there's 1000's of posts about these scams since last July.

Looks like the scammers have officially told us when this started
"in accordance with the Privacy Policy dated July 24, 2023"
Wow!
I just received a new and different message which I don't trust. This time it does not ask me to send my email address, but instead to fill in a form. (It makes me wonder if the account sending them is reading these messages!). This one has a blue Etsy E symbol and states the following:"Hello this is your Etsy Staff employee speaking with you. Due to an update to our payment system and global security update, order processing for your account is currently suspended! You will need to identify your store. As soon as this is done, it will be back up and running normally. Please fill out this form to verify your store." This is followed by a dodgy-looking link with a .com URL.
Thanks for the advice about checking the "From Etsy" folder. The message does not appear there and I have marked it as Spam
don't give e-mails
don't click links
do what you just did, and spam it
yes It is a scam. I was scammer in December requesting cc verification. The problem is you look at your phone there are no folders. I did it but immediately locked my card and got a replacement. So I lost nothing. On another note on Friday I got an error message in my qb's I called the phone number and they were asking 5000 dollars to fix the error. So scammers are around. You never know. I did call qb and that error is now fixed. So Monday my computer is going to looked at for bugs.
Received the same message this morning and am glad for this post and realizing it is DEFINITELY A SCAM. It is often so difficult to get in touch with Etsy support, I emailed them but it can take a day or two to get a reply, so I was really concerned my shop was going to be shut down. The whole thing ruined my morning too. So frustrating. Thank you to everyone who posted here!
@VintageStickerLove I'm really sorry this upset you, and understandably so. These idiots are throwing everything they can think of to scare Sellers into giving them their banking info, so they can steal from you. I'm glad you didn't engage. Just be sure to Mark as Spam, just so it doesn't ding you for Star Seller.
@UpcyclingThePNW You are right, it is a scam. Just be sure to Mark as Spam, so you don't get dinged for Star Seller.
I just got the same message and nothing else says my account has been suspended. I think it’s a scam.
It is a scam. To be sure for yourself, go to your Etsy Shop Manager and check your messages using a browser (not using the app). In Messages, the default is Inbox, All Messages, but to the left is a list of other Message folders. Look for the one that says "From Etsy" and click that. If the message does not appear there, it is not from Etsy, it is a scam.
Also, you can simply check your shop home page. If it looks normal, it is not suspended.
DANG! I put in my email address as the message popped up while I was listing & I got an immediate pop up saying that providing my email made a great first impression
@DaisyDogPottery Whatever you do, don't give them any banking info. If you receive any more, Mark as Spam so you don't get dinged for Star Seller. So sick of these idiots. I haven't been targeted, but I really hate seeing it happen to so many Sellers.
Yea scam. If you don’t see the banner on your page then it is not from etsy. And if you have to click a link and leave etsy itself for any reason its a scam
