I refreshed my listings page a moment ago and all my listings are saying they require an update. I have checked and this is something to do with the delivery profiles but when I try to update these I get a message saying this has been an error please contact Etsy support
Im not sure how this has happened as I have made no changes to my listing / Delivery profiles recently and this only happened a few seconds ago
Just want to know if this is happening to anyone else and/or if this is an issue currently.
Does anyone know if there's a work around for this? Etsy's estimated times are so inaccurate that I've had to turn off all international shipping.
All 200+ of my listings still say "update required" with no insight as to WHAT needs updated. Logging out and back in doesn't help. Etsy has not responded yet to my help request. Anyone know what is going on? What needs to be to updated?
It also wouldn't let me re-new a listing that sold out until I got rid of all shipping outside of the USA!
Received a response from Etsy that made update required go away - "you have chosen "other" as the shipping service option, which is no longer available on Etsy"
The decision to remove "other" is a bad decision. I want to be able to choose a form of shipping AFTER I see who bought it and from where. Etsy is forcing sellers to choose (before a sale) a form of shipping that may end up being the most expensive or slowest way to ship before the sale is even made.
I made changes and "update required" went away - but this is a bad (and unnecessary) decision on Etsy's part.
Self-deleted as nested in the wrong place (as usual!)
Another in the series "WTF Now, Etsy?"
You would think that when something glitched that affected thousands of sellers, that ETSY would at least alert sellers by some general email blast that they're aware of the situation and are working on it. Every software company that I worked for did this so that users aren't left wondering what the heck is wrong, etc.
Sadly, this is not a glitch. The option for 'other' has been taken away so that we now have no option but to chose a specific shipping company with wildly inaccurate delivery times. Good move Etsy (not!)
I'm attaching an email I received from Printful stating what to do in this note below. I went in and removed the other and put USPS priority mail 1-5 days for now to get things moving again. The Etsy warning message went away. I drop ship, so this may not help everyone.
Etsy-Printful integration update |
Hi, Anne! Over the past day, you may have received communications from Etsy regarding a potential de-listing of products due to missing shipping carrier information.
With both options, your orders will continue to be fulfilled. However, you may still see warnings on Etsy’s end. We’re currently in contact with them to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our customer support team via support@printful.com. |
For those that have products integrated with Printify, they are working on their end to resolve the glitch. But yes, ever single shipping profile is set to Other.. not by me however. I am waiting to see what Printify does for my integrated items.
Now I can’t list or renew anything either. Is this because I still have the 'Other' setting for delivery? I was refusing to change it, but it seems in order to list my new items I'll have to? That can't be right. Really frustrated and concerned especially at this time of year when I have so many seasonal items planned. I don’t see a future for my shop on Etsy if this 'glitch' is not a glitch.
" Is this because I still have the 'Other' setting for delivery? "
Yes, it is because you have 'other' selected for the shipping carrier. You can not renew or create new listings with that profile until you fix the shipping profile and get rid of 'other'. It's NOT A GLITCH. They got rid of 'other' as an option. The only fix is to update your shipping profiles.
Yes, many of us are in the same position, i.e. we can't renew or list new items without choosing a specific shipping company with wildly inaccurate delivery dates. If this decision is not reversed by Etsy, then I foresee many more negative feedbacks when items are not delivered in accordance with those inaccurate delivery dates. Is that what Etsy really wants, as it will not only badly reflect on the individual sellers, but also Etsy as a selling venue. Buyers will start to mistrust this site and all who sell on it.
@WitticismsRus Strangely my listings and shipping profiles are back to normal. All the red update required boxes have gone and I think it may be a glitch after all? (Hoping!!) Has anyone else been so lucky? I'm concerned if it's just a temporary relief from this mess.
I too have the same issue ! I tried editing a few things and publishing again. Still the same issue . I am thinking it may be a temporary bug !
Posted twice.
Same was happening to my shop, I was able to update from other to usps first class in my shipping profile for every listing and now is solved.
so this is common for products you are using a POD service. They automatically list their shipping as "other" so you will need to go in and change that "other" to an actual shipping option, which is a real pain. That is the solution, however. I have done that to all of mine and they updated and it went away
"Sellers with impacted listings will see the “Update Required” alert on impacted listings. If your provider is not one of the dropdown options, we recommend you choose one of the listed services whose transit time is closest to the service you usually use."
The closest time frame is DHL 4-8 days, even when I do ship with DHL the parcels can take 5-30 business days to arrive if checked at customs for international shipments. Etsy are forcing me to lie to my customers about the actual shipping time then expect me to deal with a wave of unhappy customers around Christmas when their item did not arrive on time. This is such a bad decision, I get they want to be able to keep customers happy by letting them know about delays automatically but the consequences of being forced to misrepresent the shipping time are going to ruin the customer experience.
Ok, so I started changing my listings this morning, & got through a couple of pages but had to get to work...I figured I'd finish when I got home...& I just sat down to finish changing all the other listings (POD w/Printify), & everything is fixed. Soooo do I need to change the ones I already changed BACK to "other??" 🫠
Have just checked one of my shops and the red update signs have now gone. I've also been able to renew 3 expired listings without having to alter the shipping profile. Hurrah! Hope this means that the debacle is over (for the time being.)
*** Edited to say that the red update signs are still in my other shop, so it appears to be random at present.
RE-INTEGRATE.
Re-integration will not help many of us who rely on 'other' to portray accurate delivery times. If we integrate, then we will have Etsy's estimated delivery times, which are wildly inaccurate. That is the whole point of resisting re-integration.
My listing have reverted back to normal and I was able to renew some listings without changing anything.
