This week, I noticed that the pictures in my About Section slide show have been cropped to just a corner of the image.
I compared the DPI for the current photos to the original photos.
Previously, the slide show images were formatted to 2550x1700 DPI.
Now, the allowable image size is only 760x468 DPI, significantly smaller and a very different ratio than the original slide show.
Is anyone else seeing this difference?
Or am I just in a test?
It is very unfortunate to have such a prominent aesthetic change to our shops without notification. I had a beautiful, cohesive slide show created to Etsy's requirements. Now I have a weirdly cropped slide show that looks sloppy and unprofessional.
If others are seeing this, then I will need to reformat my slide show to fit the new parameters so it does not look like a sloppy mistake.
Thanks for checking!
@ChristmasIsLove i just looked at your about photo slideshow on my phone and yours are all cropped and loomed in and show the wall or a portion of your photo. mine look strange too…
Mine’s been cropped as you describe for a very long time on my iPhone 8. Still cropped.
Happy Anniversary to this post and problem. Three months for me and four months for others.
I'm glad I found this post. I'm new to etsy and work on daily, I've been going crazy trying to figure out why the about section on my mobile device is not posting correctly. Sounds like it's been going on for quite some time.
I found this post this morning and commented. I wanted to let you know that I logged on to my shop this evening on my mobile device and the about photos look perfect. I guess the Etsy gods were listening
Sorry for the multiple posts, but I just came across something. My shop in the Etsy app on my phone, the about section photos are perfect, just like the website. When you open my shop through the Etsy Seller app and click the little eyeball icon to my store, the about section photos are large, but I think it's in a desktop format. The Mobile format is fine. I hope this isn't redundant. I'm new to etsy so every min, I feel like I'm scrolling over something I have 100 questions on. Trying to do my part to help.
@HookandFeathersFly Welcome to Etsy and the forum.
We appreciate all the help we can get on this issue. (Etsy sure isn't helping.)
I am still experiencing the extreme crop when using a mobile browser.
On my computer I see a picture of you working in your shop.
On my cell phone all I see is the tip of a feather and a ceiling light.
What I'm confused about, is on my mobile phone I have the Etsy app, and I have the Etsy Seller app. going to my shop it's different depending on what app you go through. the Etsy app, there are 3 tabs at the top (Items, Reviews, About). In this view, it shows up great (praying this is the view the public sees).
In the Etsy Seller app the shop is laid out like on a PC, no tabs, just one page, and when I scroll to the bottom to the About section the pictures are blown up and not correct.
I guess the question is how does the general public see it. Is it just problem with the Etsy Seller app? Kind of frustrating and seems like it should be a simple fix. Thanks for the dialog. so far I am loving the Etsy world, just not this part of it
Hi @HookandFeathersFly ! I just looked at your shop in Safari on my iPhone 11 and the slideshow pics are extremely cropped.
I gave my banner and announcements a refresh recently and ended up just deleting my slideshow pics as part of the makeover.
Yeah, I can't figure out what's accurate. If I'm not logged in and my item pops up, I click it and go to my shop (as a customer), and it's an app view. Not the standard view like a web browser. Only way I can describe the view is at the top it has 3 tabs (Items)(Reviews)(About). when I click the about tab, everything is perfect.
When I view and it's a website type view (no tabs, just one page) the pictures are horribly cropped.
So my consensus is, if you view your shop through a web browser on your mobile device the images are terribly cropped. If you can view through the app, all runs fine.
Unfortunately it seems to be able to communicate with anyone at Etsy about this seems impossible.
That's what I'm seeing too on a mobile browser, I don't use the apps.
Also occasionally Etsy will run "tests" that change the look and arrangement of your shop.
You may see a "test" version when others don't and it also may not show the same on all of your devices.
Also, I think things show differently depending on the browser you use.
You have taken the red pill now and you are now aware of the craziness of Etsy.
Happy Birthday to this post.
Last info I received on the issue was the automated response about how they prioritize issues based on how they impact Etsy.
Guess they have a boatload of issues if this hasn't been fixed yet.
Before this post, I honestly thought that Etsy would fix things if they only knew about them.
Hello!
Prior to posting in a thread in the Forums, we ask that you please check if you are not bumping an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in a few months (or years, even). If that is the case, and you still would like to share your thoughts and get the conversation going - whether about this or similar topics, we ask that you start your own thread instead of bumping an old one.
