1099 Eligibility

Like many others, I received an email yesterday notifying me that my 1099 was ready. It wasn't

Now I have a yellow banner telling me I am not eligible to receive a 1099

I certainly am, I meet the sales #'s and revenue amounts for 1099 distribution

Chat and now Etsy (callback) hung up / ended chat before any help could be provided

Anyone have any suggestions?

Same thing happened to me yesterday, first there was no button to download then it said I'm not eligible to receive a 1099-K but I woke up this morning and I could download it. Wait for a day and check it again.

I was able to download today too. Sometimes it doesn’t help to hurry when it comes to Etsy. It just took a couple extra days in this case to resolve itself.

time is of the essence. By law they have until January 31st (each year) to issue these

@PrevntProducts  Download 1099-K from your shop manager dashboard > Finances> Legal & Tax Info.> scroll down to the bubble "Download 1099K" . Did you request a "mailed" copy?

If you requested a mailed copy I understand it doesn't give you the option to download one. They have till midnight on the 31st to mail them out. Someone yesterday that was having that issue said they unchecked mailed copy and in a few minutes was then able to download one.  You might try that @PrevntProducts .

Ive made the $5000 mark but not the 200 sales.

But I got a 1099, LOL.

@DougsVintageStore   There is no 200 sales.  The amount for 2024 for 1099K is $5000.  IRS is not looking at number of sales.  Just the amount

I toggled the 1099-K Settings and waited for the wheel to spin awhile. Then the yellow box disappeared and the button on the right was revealed "Download 1099-K (2024)." Clicked that button and then waited for the wheel to spin awhile. Then got a red box that it couldn't download and then I did it two more times and finally got it.

(I feel like I'm giving tips on how to defeat the level 3 boss in a video game.)

This year for 2024 it is $5000  that a seller needs to have made for Etsy to have to supply a 1099K.

Unless you are located in a state with lower requirements such as $600 then Etsy will supply the 1099k.

The question is this: If you meet one of the prerequisites for a 1099, and not the other, will Etsy send you tax information to the IRS, and your state?  Of course, Etsy doesn't offer very much help to sellers. How wonderful it would be , if Etsy had an 800 number for support of sellers.

I have a same issue. I had more than $5000 in gross sales for 2024 but I am not eligible for a 1099-K this year. I just contacted support.

Only thing I can think of is..

Arizona says you only need a 1099K for business sales, not personal, and make sure you tag sales correctly

have you set yourself up as personal?

....

either way, you can still do your tax return without the 1099K

We don't need a 1099-K to do our taxes.   All of the 1099-K info, including our annual gross sales, is in our shop manager.  Whether or not we receive a 1099-K has no bearing on how we report our taxes. 

Most Etsy shops fill out a Schedule C for business owners.
