I have made at least 8 attempts to create a useable QR code for a particular listing. I have used the Etsy site which only returns a jpeg of the item and no connection to Etsy, several QRcode aps, which when photographed, show "Etsy X" which doesn't open, or "QR code not available in this country". In all cases, I used the specific internet address for the listing. There is NO way to create a useable QRcode for an Etsy item.
If you have done so, congrats! What is your secret?
A second thought: all my listings now open only as ready for publication, but the "Publish" button doesn't work. Therefore, I click on "Open on Etsy" to see the final publication. I used this page to try to create the QRcode. This change of my listings back to the editing stage must be a bug!
Have you tried Abobe Express? you can create a QR code in seconds for your shop or individual listings
I have created at least 6 QR codes from Etsy listings, receiving the notice: ETSYX,"ap not available in your country or region." (Even using the Etsy one!)
I have created about 6 QRcodes. The creation is not the problem.. None of them link to the page. It shows an ETSYX block for all, no matter what ap I use.
Hi,
I have used several aps to create QRcodes successfully. The creation is not the problem. The lack of linkage to the site is.
Thank you for your suggestion.
This did not work either.
Sounds like the problem is with the url you are using.
You cannot link to an inactive or draft listing. You need to publish the listing and ensure it is live in your shop. Then go to your shop home page (that buyers see) and open the listing from there. Then take the first part of the listing url which includes the listing number (or use the Share and Save link - you may need to activate that first). Put that url into the QR code generator.
P.s. You can only get the url of the listing if you are using a browser.
Thank you.
I followed your directions using the listing on home page URL on my computer.
When I photograph the resulting QRcode, the response is "This app is not available in your country or region. It has the word "ETSY" with an "X". I did this on the Etsy site and also using Monkey.com to create theQRcode.
@jacquelineoriginals no idea then. If the url is valid then perhaps it's the app you are using to scan it or some setting on your your device?
What phone are you using?
Can you try scanning the code using a different cell phone?
@jacquelineoriginals Your most recent post appears to have been removed - probably because you still have this one here.
What URL are you using? Can you give us an example please?
What app are you using to scan the QR code when testing it? (p.s. you don't photograph it)
"Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body." Therefore, I cannot include any in this response.
When I open My listing on Etsy, I get just the editing page. I have tried unsccessully several ways to have the actual page appear.
That URL does not create a viable QR code.
I did searches to see the actual page, but the URL contains the search info
which will not produce the correct QRcode.
The Etsy Ap only produces the image.
I used www.qrcode-monkey.com to create QRcodes, which I checked with my iphone camera. No dice.
I know I need a simple Etsy URL with my listing. I have made QRcodes for non-Etsy items without a problem.
@jacquelineoriginals: The URL you should be using is https://[#yourshopname#].etsy.com/listing/[#listingid#]
Replace [#yourshopname#] and [#listingid#] with the appropriate values
The URL displayed when a listing is in edit mode is valid only for you.
@jacquelineoriginals go here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/jacquelineoriginals
this is the link to your shop home page that buyers see.
Now click on a listing that you want to create the QR code for.
Look in the URL window at the top of the browser and copy just the first part of the page URL including the listing number (then delete the rest). e.g. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1723796461
Put that URL into an new browser tab to check it works, then use that URL to create your QR code.
If you want to use the Share & Save urls then I'm not sure how that works because I don't bother with it. However it would probably be a good idea since you are driving your own traffic so you may as well benefit from it by getting the discount on the fees.
You can also use the URL format as described by @BagmakerSupply above. That is more like the S&S url.
I don't know what device you're using but I create them on my desktop (Windows 10). I go to the listing then right-click on any white part of the page. "Create QR code" is on the pop-up menu. It works with both Chrome and Edge. It creates the code then gives a choice to copy or download it. It's easy because it's built in to those browsers.
Thank you for your advice. I did just that and when I take a photo on my Iphone, there is a block showing "ETSYX" and this ap is not available in your country or region.
I did some Googling. Are you using an iPhone?
Issues with scanning the QR code using iOS devices (put this text in Google for the source page and possible solutions)
Problem
Mobile Device Manager Plus provides QR code to enroll mobile devices. User's can scan this QR code using their mobile devices and complete the enrollment process. But, you are unable to scan the QR code using the native camera app of iOS devices.
Causes
The QR code might not be scanned due to any of the following reasons:
Hi, Yours is the most educated response I have received. Thank you! I researched all the possible solutions. I have created and scanned lots of QR codes and used them in advertising. My iphone is A-OK. It is only ETSY that's the problem. Their site is no help.
I heard from Etsy that the QR code for postage is not available in the US, only in the UK and one other place (i wasn't paying close enough attention). They said their design team was working on getting it for US sellers.
Thank you. I need a QR code for a specific listing, not postage. Their design team needs to fix that bug.
