Hi, so I am definitely not an etsy pro...and am fairly new to it myself. But I took a look at your site, (first of all, I love the ponytale/bun beanie! I've never seen that before, and have long hair so I know the struggle). So, my first thought was I'd love to read an about you, quick thing on what you make, what you use etc. Then, with the bun beanie...I'm interested in it, but I would love to see pics from different angles and definitely a head on pic to see how it looks. Also, the ones you've sold were beautiful and obviously the slouchy beanie was a hit. I'd be listing more of those! Just my simple views from a newbie! But maybe they can help?! Good luck and keep it up, they are beautiful!

I feel like you can try making the pictures prettier. Also list more products. But I'm new to this myself so I might not know what I'm talking about :)

Those are both great ideas, I agree with you. Also I have a question, how are you getting your views? Are they random just finding you views? I was just reading the discussion at the bottom of this group that someone put a bit of work into writing. It offered up a couple really useful suggestions on using Pinterest and such.
Another team I belong to the guy goes into how important really good photos are and for wearable items how it helps having one photo with someone modelling that item.
Another tip is also like they suggested, making sure your number one selling item and your most viewed item, are always n stock. Kind of listening to your customers wants without even asking...Just watching what their likes are.
Everyone has great advice. I hope it helps! Good luck out there!!

Re: Deflated.
I'm no expert selling on etsy but I do love to shop. With people's short attention span and so many different products your pictures need to quickly say alot. I were you I would change the background on your pictures, to either white or a complementing color and definately a solid background.. I think the distance of the model in the white version is the best distance but the background ruins it. Also, I would take pictures from different angles and may consider to either use a model with longer hair or pin in a hair extension to emphasize the concept. Maybe a foam head with a ponytail hairpiece would be easier to photograph (I only say this because it seems maybe you are taking photos of yourself or having to get someone else take them which may be a pain or not be so easy) I think its a good idea, but the way the pictures are I dont think it comes across very clear.
Also, you need to work on keywords- try to google synonymns for beanie and maybe try different ones in each listing so you can see which work best.
One last thing that I've seen recommended is writing about yourself in the store area, how you came up with concept or why it makes sense, how long it takes to make, how long you've been making them, what type of wool you use, something along those lines.
.

Re: Deflated.
It seems you're getting a lot of traffic and that's good for having so few items. I have almost 2800 views and only 6 sales. A lot of views come from promo forum and team games so it's not as accurate as actual shoppers. Checking direct search results gives you a better understanding of how you're being found, what key words work and what doesn't, and what people are shopping for.
I posted this in another team, it has some links to help get you going and hopefully getting more sales. The best advise I can give is read the handbook and what's in the forums/team threads.
Happy New Year Everyone!
I'm on a few different teams and try and give some helpful advise to those who are just starting out. The biggest "mistake" would be Tags & Titles. I'm still working my items over, but have seen a drastic improvement in having my items found in searches.
Here's an example of good title vs bad title:
Originally I posted this as Twisted and Hammered Sterling Silver Ring
https://www.etsy.com/listing/492464903/sterling-silver-ring-twisted-fused-and
Now I have it as Sterling Silver Ring Twisted, Fused and Forged Braided, Infinity Weave, Celtic Knot, Tribal Twist Design Mens or Ladies Ring, Viking Ring
Searches in which this item showed up in the last 7 days:
viking ring 4
mens silver celtic ring 4
celtic ring 2
sterling silver viking ring 2
mens sterling silver ring 1
men's sterling silver ring 1
men ring infinity 1
celtic weave ring 1
celtic ring men 1

I just sold 1 to someone in Norway and hopefully I sell a bunch more.
Here's some helpful links to things in the handbook:

Hope this is helpful to anyone wondering how to be found or increase traffic to their site.

Re: Deflated.
I personally believe it is all in what you put in the title. The more key words the better to be found.
Good pictures of the product at different angles. (I work constantly to improve my pictures)
AND give good info about the product.
I hope this helps :)

Re: Deflated.
I haven't had many sales but since opening in 2013 my sales did drop last year. Good feedback from buyers, and I am not showing as many new items because I am trying to sell what I already made. New items would only cost me more and I am trying to keep my expenses down as well as move old inventory.
People do say they like my items, and I try to make them all unique. Not sure what I can do to boost my sales. I am not a big facebook person so social media has not been an option. I realize that may be a contributing factor. I offer coupon codes as well. Any suggestions to get more sales? And suggestions to make my shop more appealing?
Thanks for the input!

Try using some models! would be awesome to see more shots, but would be even better if you took pics of people (family, friends, fans..etc) wearing them.

Re: Deflated.
Great advice and yes photography is everything in this medium. I have had a hard time selling on Etsy, however, I have sold so much more in local boutiques and I am doing well that way. Any suggestions to increase sales here?

Re: Deflated.
I have a question about keyword separation in product titles. As I have researched other shops, I noticed that some people separate their title keywords with commas, slashes, or hyphens, while others only put a space between words.
Is there an advantage to using one over the other or is it just what I consider pleasing to the eye?

Re: Deflated.
I don't think there is any advantage to using commas or punctuation in the titles and it creates a messy look overall.
Although, I'm experimenting with quotes around brand names in the titles for vintage items now.
We have had great success with hyphens between the words in our Tags. It makes the items much easier to find in a Search.
Fill up all the spaces in the Tags, if the words don't "go together" it's okay. The hyphens connect ALL the words and you only need to use each word 1x. Use all materials, colors, season, and uses.
I use art-decor-gift for every item.

Re: Deflated.
Thank you, Willow Valley, for your help. I am currently using hyphens in between my keywords, but I began questioning my choice when I noticed that so few people seem to use them. Hyphens do take up space that could be used for more keywords, I think it looks cleaner than just having a run-on sentence.

Your shop items are really cute but that isn't coming through in your photos. Shooting in natural light will give them a boost and on a model is even better. I know it can be discouraging but it is well worth your time to redo them.

I feel like the quality of work is amazing but the pictures do not show off the products as much as just show what they look like. People usually want to see more than one picture of something to be able to "trust" they are getting what they are expecting.

Hi Everyone! I'm relatively new to Etsy, just opened my shop last month. Prior to Etsy, I was selling my products at Pop Ups and on my own Squarespace website. Since opening my shop, I've had several hundred legitimate views (not just from teams), but 0 sales. My only sales are from customers I had already acquired from Pop Ups and my old website.
I've read the handbook, I consider my pictures great, I use tags to the max, and have lengthy descriptions.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
