Re: Just opened new shop

JFL, at first glance I feel your images are a bit dark because of the black background you use in some of your listings. You could try brightening those up to make them stand out more in the search results.

I also agree with tsinclair34, you should definitely get at least the first page of your shop filled up with listings, and brainstorm different keywords for each of them to appear in the search results. To see which keywords people are using a lot, you can start typing a word at the top search bar in Etsy and look at the suggestions. These are the keywords that are used most. Put these in your titles, tags and use them throughout your description at least two or three times in a natural way.

I see you list bracelets and necklaces - Jewelry is a very (VERY!) crowded market and you really need to have a lot of listings with bright eye-catching photos to compete against other shops. It is definitely doable though, you just need to produce quite a lot of listings.

To give your shop a boost you could also try the tips I just posted in this team (3 easy steps to...).

Re: Just opened new shop

Yes! Thank you Debbie! That was a super helpful post you made, lots of detail. I took notes and have begun following everything you mentioned. We just opened up the shop a few days ago. I'm pretty sure you saved us a lot of time and mistakes with your post. We greatly appreciated you doing that!!

Tsinclair, I agree with the others when starting out we have quite a bit against us. That big no sales above our store hurts big time. People are not as comfortable being the first buyer in a store. So favorite of the store and listings helps. Also like they mentioned the more items the better not only to compete in a crowded niche but it's also more comforting for a shopper to come into a store with lots of listings. Having no sales, being new and only a few listings kinda makes a customer feel you could be a fly by night sort of business ...

Take time and put the best photos you can about your product. Great photos about the shop and artists help too. I know we opened up before we got the photos up, were doing that this weekend...I know that's hurting us. All o these little details can help or hurt us.

Geeze....And I thought making the item was the biggest part of this lol. Then after I got my listings up I was relieved, the hardest part over! Now it's driving traffic lol. Lots of work! These groups help so much!

Good luck!! Keep us posted on how the tips help!

Make sure you use all of your tags and if you can, advertise on Facebook, Twitter, Pintrist, Redit, or others. It is going to take some time for people to come to your shop. I opened about 3 months ago and have sold 4 things since then. Good luck!

Re: Just opened new shop

Everyone else had made great suggestions.
I'm a little confused about your Materials: diamond, aluminum, silver plated, spoon, rivets, gem stone, flatware, silverware, silver, metal, stainless steal
Is that a REAL Diamond? It could be a little misleading. You should state CZ or Quartz, glass or whatever. You can use it as a descriptor, but state what the stone is after. And are you unsure about the metal? Usually plated items are still marked silver plated. Stainless steel isn't usually plated.

This is a great thread of great info, perhaps we could pin threads like this that might help others, save them from having to post the same question...Time saved means more time spent on our stores lol!

Re: Just opened new shop

Oh another comment, I would make sure you have a friend check spelling or typos, I am infamously typoing ...And making up new words hehe. However I noticed there was a listing that listed "stainless steal" and "steal" it's up to you if you would like to include typos to capture the customers using typos in their searches, however also ensure the proper spelling is included, since steel and steal are both legit words autocorrect won't pick it up, that's where a second pair of eyes helps. I know if I'm making listings when I'm tired increases my typo chance hehe.
