Re: What do you Clay?

Another new one! Give me a surface and I'll cover it. Mostly doing clocks. Branching out into sort of sculpture some of the time. And, for the craft fairs, utility items like zipper pulls and bookmarks.

Re: What do you Clay?

Thanks for the invite! Polymer is slowly gaining ground as a serious medium, and it's nice to be with like-minded artists.

Most of my work is wearable art and some home decor items. I do bold :) items in vibrant patterns/colors and/or larger scale.

Re: What do you Clay?

I have been working with polymer clay (Fimo) for more than 28 years with a two year break within those years for a bad RA flareup. I am so pleased to be able to create and make people happy with their purchases again. I'm addicted to creating new designs and hoping that they will sell. How many of you have that HUGE ball of ugly gray-brown clay from failed attempts at genius. I hate looking at that collection because it reminds me of my failures. I'd much prefer to complete a wildly colored, incredibly detailed piece of art. I like to refer to my method of using polymer clay as "painting with clay". I should add "by using my fingers, toothpicks, and sharp needles." I love creating different destination ornaments. The research on each location makes me feel as though I've visited the destination. I truly love the many things that can be created with polymer clay. I'm so glad to be a part of this group. I look forward to collaborating, questioning and enjoying everyone's work.

Re: What do you Clay?

I make gauged earrings with polymer clay. I've had gauged ears for some time now, and I was always frustrated with how generic/expensive organic earrings were. When I was given some polymer clay to work with I realized how much I like it! I'm pretty new to both the medium as well as the store but I'm eager to make some sales :) I'm looking forward to finding out more about everyone else!

Re: What do you Clay?

Hi! I didn't know this team was here but found you as I was browsing around teams. :)

I've been working with polymer clay for somewhere around 15-20 years, but have played with clay since I was old enough to squish it. :) I make primarily flower pendants and focal beads. On occasion, when the urge hits, I make other things as well.

Re: What do you Clay?

I am fairly new to polymer clay, for about a year I have been sculpting little floweers on beads to use in my jewelry (have been beading for a longer time). I am so in love with clay. I am always trying new things, believe it or not I've never made a cane so that's next on my list.

The art I see here is amazing, I also have been so excited to see so many artists whose work I love are part of this group!

Re: What do you Clay?

Hello everyone! I make steampunk style jewelry and about half of it is polymer clay. I started making polymer clay figures when I was about 14. It was really hard to find at the time and the only choices were sculpey that was too soft, or hard and crumbly Fimo. I had to process it in a mini food processor with mineral oil. When I got older, I started making hippie- type beaded jewelry that I sold at a local CD shop. I remember going to the Leedy-Voulkos Gallery in downtown Kansas City and being totally blown away at the level of absolute radicalness of the artists! I tried for years to get that good! Maybe one day. Anyway, that was a long time ago, and it's so much easier to get quality clay and tools!
I hope everyone has a productive and soul-tingling good time this holiday season!

Re: What do you Clay?

Helloo,
Glad I found this team.I make pendants and lapel pins out of various polymer clays.

My inspirations comes from anything that I am naturally attracted too.

I do tend to especially favor anything that has an Old World look and feel. I love European and American Folk Art and a lot my pieces reflect that.

My Mom introduced me to the old school original white Sculpy in the 1970's.

I really enjoyed it then, and we had a lot of family fun making tons of things out of Sculpy.

I have recently rediscoverd polymer clay. Its definately come a long way since the original white sculpy.

To have my hands in polymer clay is a true joy.

Re: What do you Clay?

Hello everyone!
My name is Nichole and I make monsters, mutants and creatures from polymer clay. Then everything gets hand painted. I've only discovered polymer clay within the past year and a half, and my style has drastically changed since the begining.

Re: What do you Clay?

I am working on learning PC techniques. I will be making a series of collectible polymer clay Easter Eggs, and have an ongoing project making a large glass bowl covered with caned Northeast wildflowers. Other than those, I do faux scrimshraw, canes, buttons, drawerpulls, light switches, lockets, pendants, earrings, and beads. I hope to do furniture paneling when I get good enough.

Re: What do you Clay?

Jewellery here! The majority of my pieces are flat pendants and earrings cut from patterned sheets of clay, but I also make beaded necklaces and bracelets as well.

My favourite thing about clay? Being able to make the perfect accessory for any outfit, one that no-one else in the world will be wearing. :)

Re: What do you Clay?

At the moment I only have some pendants in my store but I did a TON of roses for my wedding. I made a brooch bouquet but I couldn't find most the colors I needed. So I just made roses with different color clay. My wedding colors were black, red, bright purple, dark purple and navy.

Re: What do you Clay?

I feel now I actually have two items worth showing to others. I statered last year making polymer clay Easter eggs, and have my first picture up from a batch I made this season:

And, my partner has a little girl whose grandpa just passed away. To help her feel less lonely, I made her a little memorial locket in her favorite colors. I decide to make the offer of these available for other parnets delaing with loss in their children's life:
