Definition of 'Mitigation' - "the action of reducing the severity, seriousness, or painfulness of something." Apparently encouraging the wearing of masks, social distancing, plain and simple, acting smart, is not on the "mitigation agenda". 

And Pence not quarantining since he's an "essential worker" after 5 people he has interacted with on his staff have tested positive. It's one thing to continue carrying out VP duties, preferably from home. But campaigning? I didn't know that was "essential".

Northern Neighbors - the border closure extended to November 21st & apparently Trudeau discouraging people from heading south to Florida, Arizona for the winter months. Listen to the PM! Florida now has 778,636 confirmed cases - over 10K just in the past Three Days. You really don't want to be here when the s#%& hits the fan again big time.

So trumplicans are going for herd immunity, otherwise known as mass murder. Conservative politicians are the most useless people on earth, unless one can profit off the suffering of others. When a country has for profit healthcare is there any incentive to keep citizens from becoming infected. However, from an article dated TODAY:

Maybe Trump needs to rethink his tweet? The reason for people wanting to change their vote could be caused by Meadow's statement that Trump (the USA) is not going to try to contain the virus, that it can't be done, so Trump is going to concentrate on vaccines & therapeutics instead. If someone should become seriously ill from the virus, possibly die, it apparently become an "oh well, that's so sad" moment? The long term affects of the Virus we still don't know everything about - oh, don't worry about that either?

It may also be the tantrum trump had on the 60 minutes interview. Likely embarrassed for him and the contrast was quite stark between him and Biden. I still don’t feel it is a sure thing, that cult thing makes logic go out the window, but sure hope Biden wins. The trumplicans are so corrupt it will take everyone voting to overcome whatever they do. Seems if some were voting for trump solely because of far right (unqualified) judges that is done and they no longer need him. Maybe some had enough of his tantrums, or want to live, and want to now change their vote. He should have thought to hold off and used the judge as a carrot, they don’t need him now, the court is stacked.

When people say this is the most important election in our lifetime, well, I hope everyone realizes this is a factual statement & not a wild guess.

Here in Florida, we're up to 16,505 deaths today (786,311 cases). The latest "duh" news about Florida is actually a story from Maryland, where a family received a delivery of Florida Nursing Home tests that were addressed to a Lab (in Baltimore?). Somehow ended up on their doorstep. No-one wants to accept responsibility for even retrieving the tests, the Nursing Home said they have re-tested everyone once they were informed of the snafu, but really, sending Tests to Maryland, from Florida??? Bet that gives real timely results. And where getting quick results, to protect the residents, should be ultra-important. Yes, the vulnerable are so well protected here.

Apparently Trump's spokesman blaming the losses on the Housing/Economic downturn. But really, hundreds of millions of dollars "forgiven"? I'm sorry but I know people that had their lives turned up-side-down during the crisis. They didn't get anything forgiven, had to file bankruptcy, sell stuff, 'return' recently purchased car, the works. 

IMO "the swamp" needs to put its filtering capabilities into high gear, get those 'pitcher plants' working day and night. We need all the help we can get.

After last night's rally in Omaha, participants were left in the cold and dark because the busses to get them to the parking lots 3 miles from the airport hangar were not running.  Dipping into the low 30s, several people were treated for hypothermia.

Sadly they will still vote for him. They could have health issues and need a gofundme to help pay for treatment and still vote for him. They could have dead family members and they will still vote for him. Them freezing for hours won't stop them.

I read comments on social media from his supporters and he still might 'win' because logic has gone out the window. It is a cult and history will record it as such. Imagine in the future when people look at images of his trump rallies happening during a pandemic. The death toll is likely to at least double in the US and the world is collectively shaking their head.

So what happens if he loses with the time between Nov and Jan, he doesn't care about controlling covid now so is unlikely to care after the results.

As a product of 12 years of Catholic pre-college education, if those nuns were really & truly nuns, the Church should be hanging their head in shame. To preach "life begins at conception", to be against the death penalty, to literally have people of my parents age group (both would be 100+ but the teachings still have a hold on some my age) question whether is was "acceptable" to create/sign a "do-not-resuscitate" order. Oh I could go on & will stop right now, but either way - real or hired with costumes - it is so utterly disgusting. Christian teaching - my a*s.

Yes, Florida's testing numbers going down. DeSantis wants to start the cruise industry back up & is apparently upset that the NFL has plans to limit the number of fans allowed to attend the "big game" next year in February. But when you realize that the State has not adjusted their annual budget to take into account falling revenues, well it's truly just another Floriduh moment. In the meantime we're just trying to hang in there, trying to stay healthy. Our trips are still the grocery store, the very occasional doctor appointment or a very rare trip to the local DIY box store. "Pleasure shopping", dining out, even a day out at the local markets to look for treasures, hasn't & will not happen for some time to come. But hey, we retirees, since Florida entered Phase 3, are on our own, wading thru the muck & mire of Trumpism.

Apparently averaging 800 deaths a day is "almost nothing". Add there is apparently a continuing shortage of PPE. What are the odds Trump has used the DPA to up the manufacturing of 'therapeutics'? If he can't attend the the basic stuff that our Medical Staff(s) need, does anyone think he's aware enough to do something else?

Florida has reached another milestone today - 800,216 total coronavirus cases reported. Slowly but surely the daily numbers are going up. Everyone stay safe & healthy.

Am I a prisoner in my home right now? Well, almost. With Florida's Governor following in lockstep with Trump, the seniors, the elderly, those with pre-existing conditions, we all have to fend for & protect ourselves. Going about "life as usual" is not an option. Is everyone in the USA a prisoner in their own country? Well, there were a limited number of countries that were willing to accept Americans as tourists, but they were few & far between. Who knows what is happening now, with a resurgence of the virus across the globe. And really, Canada has wisely kept the border closed. Need I say more?

I could leave my home but choose not to unless I have to. Restaurants, stores, gyms and even the casino are open for up to 50 people at a time. Some things are closed in larger cities because some aren't following the guidelines, likely many of the anti-maskers who are protesting in large cities are making the cases rise. I should probably go for a haircut because I've been cutting it myself and it is getting a little scary looking. A test for my partner lol.

I think Biden would do what is needed to get it somewhat under control rather than just letting folks die. About a month or less of safety measures would make a big difference, at least let hospitals catch up. trump better hope that those attending his rallies don't end up infected or worse and unable to go vote for him. That would be a shame.

I'll add that Canada is wise to keep the border closed indefinitely. I live in a border city, just cross a bridge and we are n the US in a city with the same name as ours. I'm certain our cases would be out of control if the border was open, both from Canadians going there or Americans coming here. I do feel bad for their city as they have huge stores, gas stations, restaurants etc that rely on Canadians.  They may not survive and that would be a shame for both countries, I don't go there often but i know many who do. Our businesses might actually be doing better than some because Canadians can't cross there so are shopping at home.

A question. If trump loses the election what happens from Nov to Jan, as can things still be passed like stimulus money etc to help people or is it just him tweeting all day long doing nothing. I've read or seen so many stories of people losing their jobs, unemployment running out and being evicted and having no support and it is heartbreaking if they will have to wait until Jan or later for support. Will he even try to help if he is on his way out and all butt hurt about it. What if he pouts and just walks away, would Biden go in early. What will happen with all the Q-nuts who think trump is their saviour. Assuming of course that he loses, I am still concerned because of last time. I worry way too much about things I have zero control over.

WalMart had pulled guns and ammo off the shelves but reversed course yesterday - because of worries about unrest. To me that speaks volumes & to be honest I do wonder what will happen. Not necessarily in our more rural County, but in places with greater populations &/or where the political conversation has seemed more like a "war".

Hair - I've taken to frequent trims on hubby (each time I get better) & since I'm just a gray, long haired "old lady" I trim the ends every once in a while & my better half checks for evenness. 

I don't know what some folks are going to do - evictions (Trump's EO saying the CDC has some control runs out today??) unemployment funds running out & between the House' stubbornness and the Senate passing the buck to Mnuchin to negotiate a package for the people they were elected to represent - things are going to get worse. Congress could do something after the election & maybe some will be "braver". If someone not reelected they might be more willing to not stick to 'party lines' & do what is necessary for everyone.

Lots of videos of it online so he can't claim his usual fake news.  Mr faux law and order will just say they are patriots. Read social media from his followers and they claim the only way trump loses is if the Dems cheat, trump said it and they 'believe' him. So they claim they are for free speech, for the constitution, are not for cancel culture, but the only caveat is only applies to those who support trump. Brain washed might be hard to fix.

Why did Walmart reverse their decision to remove ammo etc. seems like they were right the first time. If trump loses there is likely to be some who go off the deep end, mind you they probably already have enough guns and ammo to do damage. Will trump speak up to stop them or will he stand proudly and back them up. History tells us the answer, his 'LIBERATE' tweet when the MI governor was shutting down the state, and his 'stand back and stand by' about the proud boys confirmed it. No doubt the unrest by his supporters would be excused and even praised, much like when the 17 yr old went to WI and killed people or when the armed militia went to the MI building and screamed in the police faces, everything is acceptable to the toddler if they support him.
