Has there been anything said about the future of Pattern in 2020? I am hesitant to invest my time building a Pattern site when the certainty of the platform remaining on etsy has not been established. I am not aware of any improvements made to Pattern in the last six months. And support for Pattern seems to be coming mostly from this wonderful etsy team.
Well I hope everyone is doing well!
I haven't heard Etsy mention Pattern at all recently, but I don't follow all of their press releases and talks with the CEO. It does seem like Etsy Support for Pattern has improved a bit lately. But I'm not sure that's enough to read anything into it.
Maybe someone else has heard something.
I really do not know why they would abandon it. Think about it. There is much less strife from the pattern users. They are guaranteed a monthly fee no matter what. I mean they put very little effort into it, while getting a guaranteed payment. Why would they shut it down?
I really hope they don't abandon it. I get at least as much traffic to the pattern site as I do to my Etsy shop. Which helps Etsy, too, since any/all sales go through etsy.
Yes they make money from folks Pattern sales without much effort on their end. And of course there that monthly $15 dollar fee they also make. All great and logic reasons to why I think Pattern still currently exists. But there are also a couple unknowns about Pattern. Like how many actual Pattern users are there? Enough to invest into some small improvements and offer somewhat better tech service to Pattern users. I would love to see the "Personalization Box" that they said was going to be added to Pattern, but never was. Or is there just enough folks using Pattern that they will keep things as they are now. Which for some users is fine. Another question I have about Pattern is foot traffic. When you promote your individual site instead of the Etsy site, do they see that as a negative. They much rather you promote the Etsy site.
What I would like to foresee in Pattern's future is at least some small improvements and for them offer somewhat better tech service. And of course a "Personalization Box". I am not expecting some huge overhaul for Pattern.
Again I hope everyone is doing well! And I hope you get tons of sales in 2020!
ler's get better
I have Pattern and despite all my promoting I don't get enough sales. I do better on Etsy. My daughter does very well on her Pattern site. I am looking at a standalone site just to make sure I have more support etc. Site 123, Jimdo and something called Createshoppe. All suitable for people like me who are beginners, but I just cannot make my mind up.
