Dimmed Collections Menu Images on Pattern (Editor, Mobile, and Live Site) – Any Suggestions?

I hope you’re all doing well!

I’m new to using Pattern and have been loving the opportunity to create my own branded site. However, I’ve run into an issue where the images in my Collections Menu appear dimmed or translucent. This happens across the live site, the Pattern website editor, and on mobile. The issue persists across multiple devices and browsers, even after clearing my cache, refreshing the site, switching themes, and republishing.

While troubleshooting using developer tools, I noticed that the images briefly displayed correctly after making some adjustments in the right-side pane. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a permanent fix, as the issue returned after refreshing. (I do have screenshots of the correctly displayed collection images with dev tools open and visible.)

I’ve already reported this to Etsy Support, and they’ve confirmed that their engineering team is investigating. However, no timeline for a resolution has been provided yet.

As someone new to Pattern, I’m really eager to make the most of this platform and ensure my site is as visually appealing as possible. I’d love to hear if anyone else has experienced this issue or found a workaround.

I'm not sure which template you're using, but none of them have been updated since the initial launch. I see what you're saying on your collections page, but when I click on the shop page all the listings are in their original vibrant form. It must be the way the template is designed. Without being able to edit the html/css on the website it's just going to look like this, unfortunately.

Thank you for your suggestion! I’ve already tried switching templates and republishing, but unfortunately, the dimming effect is consistent across all of them. It seems to be a feature tied to how the collections page is designed, regardless of the chosen template.

I also used developer tools to dig a bit deeper and noticed that the dimming appears to be linked to certain CSS elements. While testing, I managed to temporarily display the images in their original vibrant form by adjusting these elements. I’ve taken screenshots of this to share with Etsy support, though the changes weren’t permanent.

I’m still waiting to hear back from Etsy support to confirm whether this is an intentional design choice or if there’s a workaround to display the collections page more vividly. It would be great if Etsy offered more customization options, especially for something as visual as an art store.

I agree with @stufforama that it's probably designed this way. Even if Etsy considered it a bug, they probably wouldn't be in a rush to fix it.
Have you tried a different template to see if they work more to your liking?
