Finding the time

I've been so busy and trying to find the time to get on the computer to promote items. Anyone going through the same thing?

I wish esty would have a way to add pictures of items you want to post using a link or something for iPhone. Like on raverly it's so easy for me to post my pictures because I can take a picture with my phone and post with my phone.

Well got to go to work. Maybe I'll take a few hours to post.

Re: Finding the time

Me, too! It feels like I spend so much time posting and promoting - time that is taken away from making things. I guess it's all a part of doing business. All that, plus a "real" job...

Re: Finding the time

Also find it hard for good time management re splitting work between crocheting, marketing and promotion and other family duties too.

Do you guys have a target no. of listings for each month? I am rather disoriented and have slacken these days.

Re: Finding the time

I've taken alot of pictures of my items. Im finiding it hard to post the pictures because most of the pics I take with my phone. I did make a plan to take the time before everyone wakes up if that's an hour a week or a hour a day. I have two jobs and family duties and this business trying to promote. I haven't even put all my good purses up I've made or my other designs I can do to show what I'm able to do. It's frustrating.

Re: Finding the time

I know what you mean. Trying to balance between work, family, and etsy is very difficult. Sometimes I end up not being able to post new pieces for much longer periods of time than I would like. Though I find I do the best when I give myself a rough plan for the week of what I'd like to accomplish, even if it's only something small.

Re: Finding the time

I feel the same way. I am pretty new on Etsy and didn't realize the work involved in getting people to your shop. It's a bit overwhelming trying to figure it all out, do what needs to be done to market my shop. I have a day job, kids, etc as you all seem to as well. Lately, I have felt like I am just spending so much time on etsy in the forums and teams looking around and not really focused and also not making much because of it. It's hard to figure out what is most important to do first. I still haven't had one sale so sometimes I feel a bit discouraged. But I really want this soI will persevere.

Re: Finding the time

Folks, besides perfecting our skills and products, I find it most important to draw views to our shops. Or it would be like a remote shop in the middle of nowhere, even though displaying gorgeous products.

As in actual world, good selling is location, location and location (so far as it is true in Hong Kong). In the virtual world, location is I guess translated to site traffic. Yet, I don't know much about how to draw traffic to my shop. Seeing that people of successful etsy shop are talking about hundreds and thousands of traffic a day. OMG! know it is hard work. But work on where?

Teammates - have you got any ideas, besides telling all my friends of my online shop?

Re: Finding the time

I use HootSuite to help manage my social media venues. It's a social media dashboard that allows you to preschedule your messages (IE links to items in your shop, your actual shop link, blogs you find interesting, quotes you enjoy, etc). I can't even explain how much time I've saved using this tool.

HootSuite offers two packages; a basic one for free which is pretty much all an Etsian really needs, and a professional package for $5.99 a month. I use the professional package, but only because I run the SEO, public relations, and marketing campaigns for a creative writing website, as well as for my Etsy shop.
