Hey all, I thought it would be interesting to meet you all and find out what makes us all nerds.

I love SciFi of any and all types and am a huge browncoat. I love World of Warcraft (as you can probably tell from my store) and many other MMORPG's. I have been a paper and pencil RPG gamer for 20 years (yikes!) and have even been involved in a medieval reenactment club. I have I am a graphic designer and iTunes App developer by trade, with a love of crafting and handmade everything.

What makes me a nerd? Well, like Amy I have been playing D&D since I was young. I love WoW and all Role playing and MMORPG's. But I am also a huge sci-fi and Fantasy lover. Harry Potter, obviously, LOTR, Dragon Lance, Twilight, Star Wars, Vampires and Wizards and Zombies Oh My!

I am currently finishing up my fourth fanatasy novel in my spare time from being a full time Homeschoolin' Jedi mama and Head House Elf of my store!

So I guess you could say, just about everything makes me a nerd! I was just born to be one! And darn proud too :)

Good to meet you all! I too have been into RPGs since I was young and spent a few years writing game scripts and designing RPGs back in the day. (Hence my gaming die pendants!)

I love Harry Potter, Dr Who/Torchwood, Firefly, Warehouse 13, & Eureka -- most SF/Fantasy really. I am also a History Nerd (specializing in Medieval and Victorian) and a Word Nerd (read: accuracy and grammar nazi) and have been involved with both medieval and Colonial reenactment groups. I love constructing costumes for cosplay even tho I have not done that for a while. Currently I am obsessed with Steampunk and have just finished a Steampunk epic as my latest novel. (Waving at Becky -- always nice to meet another writer!)

I'm a nerd and it all started with Lord of the Rings =) and Robert Heinlein and Isac Assamov ... so books basically, then came along Harry Potter and I fell even more in love.
When I went to college I started gamming, D&D, WoW, and board games.
I just started watching Stargate Atlantis (thank you Netflix) and i'm totally hooked, i'm not sure how i missed this one i've seen all of the others.
I love Dr. Who!
I hate fox for canceling Firefly.
Dr Horrible is amazing!
I love comic books too, my favorite being Green Lantern (only DC i like) and I love xmen! Mostly anything with Pheonix
I've got a Lantern tattoo on my finger =)

Right now my nerdy hobbies include, knitting while watching Stargate and i'm currently re-reading the Game of Thrones series in celebration of the 5th book coming out next month!!! That week is going to be amazing, Dance of Dragon comes out then Harry Potter a few weeks later =) Summer rocks!!!!

I read educational books for fun.
I write fan fiction (well, I'm starting to).
I want to learn anglo-saxon, and I love to hear it spoken.
I own two copies of Star Wars on VHS, one on DVD, and two copies of the soundtrack.
I go to renaissance faires wearing a dress I sewed myself.
I love word etymologies and phrase origins.
I collect good quotes and keep them in notebooks.

Is that enough? :)

What makes me a nerd? I spend hours in front of my computer reading about anything computer related. I am a big fan of Dr. Who. I read the latest comic books every week. I currently reading Daemon by Daniel Suarez. Also, I love learining and can't go a semester without taking a class.

I guess what makes me a nerd was my early obsession with Shoujo Manga, gunbound, mmorpgs, Marvel, ninja turtles instead of barbie dolls, memes, i could go on and on, but mainly right now is Nyanicorn.com and making adorable whimsies in my shop. Oh and turtles. BABY turtles..

For me it all started with Start Trek, the original series. Then Lost in Space and Land of the Giants. Then Lord of the Rings. Then Star Wars. Now I'm hooked on ST: Next Generation, Babylon 5 (LOVE), Firefly, Stargate, and Warehouse 13. I have been attending SF conventions for 20 some years and have been showing my tea cozy art in art shows for the past 3 years. Last year, my husband and I put together 50+ pom poms on a tea cozy base, called it "The Trouble with Teapots" (it really looked like a pile of tribbles), sent it to the Necronomicon art show, and David Gerrold bought it! (My celebrity tea cozy!)

In addition to the above, I geek out over music (playing and listening), knitting, sewing, paper crafting, gardening and renaissance festivals.

Let me see...
- I'm a big movie fan.
I'm currently obsessed with silent films ( I'm in love with Buster Keaton XD ).
From Hollywood I watch from silents to some movies from the 80s over and over again.
I love Audrey Hepburn and no Breakfast at Tiffanys is not my favorite movie with her ( some people say they love her but that's the only Audrey movie they have ever watched, I don´t get it).
Then Horror...I love italians, those are the best: Argento, Fulci, Bava, I love Dellamorte Dellamore.
From other countries I love some horror with actors like: Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price.
Then I watch european movies, some of my favorites are french: Last year at Marienbad, Il sorpasso,la petite voleuse, I love a french musical movie called Anna from the sixties with Anna Karina I can sing all day long .
Then Asian movies, directors like Tsai Ming Liang, Park Chan-wook, Kim Ki-duk, Takashi Mike...
Ok, I'll stop with movies now.

- I watch anime, european animation works like svankmajer's (ok movies again) and old cartoons from Disney and Fleischer.

- I love Cliff Edwards songs and I want to learn to play the ukelele only because of that, I play guitar a bit, wish I could be better but I don't have enough time to practice, my guitar hero of course Django Reindhart, I could never do anything remotely like that sound, so cool.
Other music artist I like: Serge Gainsbourg, David Bowie, Marc Bolan, Pj Harvey, Amy Winehouse,The Smiths, Radiohead, Nina Simone, Jacques Brel, Scott Walker, Air, Boards of Canada,Roxy Music, etc. I don't think that's really nerd.

-I play some keyboards (teaching myself) and I have a melodica piano.

- I'm a plastic artist so I love drawing, painting, etc, etc, I could spend hours doing it without noticing time. I don't like other people around while I'm working and I always forget about anything else while working, some people hate this about me.

- I don't watch much TV now, I'm not really into SCI FI ( although I used to watch Stark Trek a lot when I was a child).
I like comic books but not much about superheroes, I like the ones I used to read when I was a child in the 80s and early 90s, some from Disney, then Asterix, Lucky Luke, there was a comic about horror little stories here called Alucine, kind of like creepshow stories. My dad used to collect those, they helped me learn to read when I was a child and made me want to draw too :)

Ok, I'll leave it there for now. I don't know...am I a nerd? Sometimes I think maybe I am just boring XD

What makes me a nerd is my dad... well he started it, I'm the one keeping it going. He got me into gaming, video games and D&D, and comics. If it weren't for him I wouldn't have been the nerdy lady I am.

Add to Dad's influence my grandma teaching me how to sew. My teaching myself how to knit and falling in love with theater in school and you end up with a crafty, nerdy girl who likes to make things for other nerdy folks and costumes for herself.

Because of that I've met some of the best friends a girl could have and we nerdy ladies get together once a week to do a podcast where we talk about comics and games and movies.

It's a good life. :D

Well... what makes us nerds (Martyn and Jenny, husband and wife- both list and post on here under this name):
Jenny- Ultimately I'm a literature geek and always have been... when I was little my mum always used to moan that I couldn't get anything done because I always had a book under my nose. I will read anything and everything but love Austen and really enjoy dystopian fiction. Due to my work as a primary school teacher and my part-time MA (children's literature) I get through loads of kids books and will drone on about them for hours and hours. I've recently started reading comics and can't believe that I didn't do this when I was younger! I particularly love She-Hulk (Single Green Female was great!) and although it's aimed at kids think Tiny Titans is fantastic and can't recommend it enough!!!
I love Doctor Who and Star Trek (especially Deep Space Nine... about to work my way through box sets of Enterprise).
Martyn- I'd have to say that I'm a science geek, I just love how science can explain so many things and how everything fits together. I love Bones and CSI. I've always enjoyed comics, the X-men are cool as are most comic book characters. It's a world where being different is the name of the game. I also enjoy historical based literature such as Sharpe and fantasy such as the Saga of Ice and Fire books by George RR Martin. Can't wait to see Game of Thrones on DVD (can't afford Sky Atlantic at the moment). Love sci fi movies and series like Star Trek.

wellll.......i had the first ticket to the original star wars movie, then the second, and third (the third i flew home as i was in the navy stationed in gitmo!!). i still have my pen protector and ti-88 calc. sure my jeans show my white knee high socks - whos dont?

oh wow, etohhh...

i'm more nerd than geek. spend much of what little free time i have with my nose buried in a book, more often than not a genre book, or text book, or science journal. only TV i watch (besides DVDs and netflix) is PBS and create. i squee like a 15 year old fangirl over antiques roadshow. oh, and alan cumming on mystery theatre. BRILLIANT! i'm one of those ppl you want in trivia games, because my range of knowledge on anything non-pop culture or sports is wide, vast and deep, especially in the fields of biology, history and politics.

then, there's the usual standard fare, LotR, anime, star trek, star wars, babylon 5 (BESTEST TV SHOW EVAR!!), comic books, etc., etc., et al.

and, i think neil degrasse tyson is a HOTTIE!

oh yah, and i'm a chick drummer. which isn't nerdy, but it's damn cool. ritsu from k-on is my blood-sister ^_-

Im a nerd in oh so many ways.
Im nerdy for cheesy 80s movies. I *super heart* tankgirl and her BOOM BOOM style.

I dork out on my MST3K collection, my old school pokemon cards, and my random autograph collection. (The Darth Himself is in it!)

My nintendo is almost my bff, and I still giggle madly when playing pod racer. I cant help myself. :'x

My fur babies and my vintage camera are my world. Phew....feels good to get that out xP

Hmm, what makes me a nerd.
I think a wide variety of things. First of all I love learning, knowledge is a key point in my life. I LOVE reading, I could read and write two languages by age 4. I consume everything sci fi and fantasy related.
I have had various video game problems throughout the years. I now play RPGs on my computer, all sorts on wii, and i still have a sega genesis.
I 'might' have a nintendo problem. I sometimes leave the house and realise that apart from underwear I am wearing everything Nintendo branded.
I collect comics, and avidly read them too.
I love robots more than anything.
Wolverine is my hero.
Spock is my hero.
I have the enterprise tattooed on my hip.
I have Harry Potter tattoos.
My house is a full on nerd cave.
I am Darth Vader every halloween.

The list goes on and on. But it would start to get boring.
I have always been a nerd, and will always be.

I have more than one rubik's cube.
I read for fun- mostly mysteries. Same for TV- CSI, Bones, Castle

My husband is the always learning, always knowing random facts type nerd and has read Terry Pratchet, the Hobbit, and the Talking with Dragons series of books to me. He also owns a shelf of Star Wars fan fiction paperbacks.

Where to begin:
~I've played AD&D for years
~read obsessively...everything! But I love L.M. Montgomery, Neil Gaiman, Rowling, Tolkien...to name a few
~I've been to GenCon, ComicCon and LOVE RenFaires (and of course always in costume - last few times as a pirate)
~speaking of which, I have more costumes than 'normal' clothes
~misses Xena, Hercules and thought Firefly was killed far too soon
~owns all Futurama & MST3K DVD sets
~started my own book club with a small group of friends just so we could read and discuss 'Good Omens'
~I have been highly involved with community theater since the age of 5
~owns the VHS & DVD versions of Star Trek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Back to the Future
~am a multi-year winner of NaNoWriMo
~I have a huge collection of Harry Potter items...right next to the collection of RHPS (which I also have costumes for)
~no will play trivia games with me
~in high school, I was in the trifecta of nerdom: Drama Club/Speech Team, Music (choir and band), and Academic Team
~I played the flute in marching band...yes, I went to band camp...and, No!
~I make lists for everything.
~and finally, my eye was immediately drawn to a team with 'nerd' in its name

I have a saying about nerds when I am at a convention. You know you're surrounded by nerds when they can recite an entire scene from Futurama word for word. You know you're a nerd when you know they're quoting it word for word.

But I've always been a nerd, early on, a gamer nerd, anime nerd, and fantasy nerd. Now I'm branching out to sci fi.
