This blog is really powerful. The posts from today and yesterday...I've said all along this is about so much more than the sale of children's products.

I just heard Bill Nelson Dem, FL on FOX News say that his office is receiving calls 7 to 1 AGAINST the stimulus bill. He says people are just SCARED. Bull...Americans are not scared for the reasons he thinks. Americans have seen the cr*ap in this bill and they don't want it. Nelson and his ilk think the Americans are too stupid to think. I'm going to e-mail my two useless senators, Stabenow and Levin and remind them that it is the American people and NOT GOVERNMENT that have made this country great and I'm urging everyone else to do the same.
I WILL REMEMBER who voted for this garbage when elections roll around in 2010 and 2012 and that goes for the President too!
A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicity.
3lilpuppies - I'm in Michigan, too! Don't be too hard on Levin. He actually has been, in my opinion, extremely responsive to my concerns, not only sending an on-point (form) letter, but I also got a phone call from a staffer (yes, a real, live person).
Sorry, can't say anything good about Levin. In the past several years, I've written him and he has only responded once...the year he was up for re-election, of course. Michigan is becoming a very BLUE state, thank you Kwame, Granholm, Conyers, Levin, Stabenow and what have any of these (several are crooks) "leaders" done for our state? I can't wait to leave ...
I am glad you felt your concerns were addressed though.
Ok, one more quote... Not much to do with CPSIA, but it sure stuck me as relevant to our times.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." Thomas Jefferson
I was, actually, VERY surprised that he was so responsive; I hadn't heard anything good about anything he's done for the state, and his views and mine don't generally mesh. That said, Stabenow and my Congressional Rep. were completely unresponsive to my concerns.
My husband (who grew up in Detroit) wants to leave the state, but we're not able to financially. I'm all for it (despite liking my community), but I'm not from here and don't have deep ties.
When I contacted Levin and Stabenow about this CPSIA issue, I received a PERFUNCTORY response; detailing the legislation and its "merits". I sent another email telling her that I knew what the intent of the law was but that in spite of its good intentions that it was going to hurt many businesses, parents and children and that it needed to be amended. I heard nothing after that.
I have never received anything but "perfunctory" responses from her and NOTHING save one response from Levin. I might add that all of my correspondence to them are polite and concise.
