What the CPSIA really means

This blog is really powerful. The posts from today and yesterday...I've said all along this is about so much more than the sale of children's products.

Re: What the CPSIA really means

Some people get it, but the sheeple don't. The loss of parental freedom because of this law will stun people when it happens, but it will be too late.
Of course it has never been about "keeping our children safe", but about who controls our children, those who control our children, control us.

I read that blog last night, tears running down my face (okay, I'm a bit touchy lately, but still). Thanks for posting it, Sugar!

Re: What the CPSIA really means

we lost parental freedom a long time ago... before i even became one.

soon as they figure out our kids eat and sleep in our homes, and not homes intended for children 12 and under, it will be our belongings, next.

Re: What the CPSIA really means

Wow! I could spend hours reading her blog. Thank you for posting this link!

I spent much of thurs, and fri listening and watching to the pandering of our senators on this insane stimulus package. A few realize what a disaster this bill has become and are working to stop it. A few think they are "the answer" to the world's problems, and only their superior knowledge and wisdom will save us from sure and sudden disaster. Others wander around without a clue about anything. Watching this charade and being involved with the CPSIA boondoggle has proven to me that the majority of those we have elected to serve us in Washington are as phoney as a $3 bill, and we were downright stupid to put them there. Perhaps this has taught us all something, and we will work to change the way Washington works. Perhaps the change people were hoping for is the reality that we are the ones who need to change in our expectations from those that we elect. We need to let them know that we won't accept anything but excellence from them. Or they will get the same end reslut that we would get from our employers if we were as crappy at our jobs as they are, the unemployment line!

Re: What the CPSIA really means

Hello, again, FayeMalone! I, too, am dismayed by the "stimulus" that even the CBO says will worsen the state of the economy. I posted this in another thread last night, but it bears repeating here. With one hand, Congress is squashing thousands (if not tens of thousands) of responsible small businesses, while with the other, they're pushing through a massive stimulus that will do little good for the economy. I'm not a betting person, but I'd be willing to wager that unleashing businesses (in a common sense and responsible manner) and allowing them to flourish will do more to stimulate the economy more quickly, efficiently, and with more lasting effects than a "grow-the-government" stimulus will.

My husband found a quote recently (I don't remember where) by a former president; I will paraphrase: if we expect our government to provide everything for us, we create a government that can take it all away.

Faye, I love how you put the positive light on this. I, for one, feel much more educated about how the government works (or doesn't) and how it affects me and my family (all of us) in a very real way. For that, it's empowering. Too bad we all didn't "get this" prior to the election; Congress may have had a much different face.

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: "The Government cannot give you Anything it has not first taken away from you".
Will the people wake up in time?

Re: What the CPSIA really means

but, for good measure, here's another reagan quote:

"entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the united states."

I'm praying that people will wake up in time and say enough is enough. It feels like a really bad dream.

Re: What the CPSIA really means

I think my paraphrasing was from a similar quote of Gerald Ford's. (Epitome of common sense...)

Re: What the CPSIA really means

Here's Ford's actual quote: "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have."

From the same man: "History and experience tell us that moral progress comes not in comfortable and complacent times, but out of trial and confusion."

More: "Our great Republic is a government of laws and not of men. Here, the people rule."

And, perhaps my favorite: "It's the quality of the ordinary, the straight, the square, that accounts for the great stability and success of our nation. It's a quality to be proud of. But it's a quality that many people seem to have neglected."

This is fun, but a (necessary and needed) diversion. staceyJEAN, like you, I'm finding TONS out there!

Re: What the CPSIA really means

honestly, if people won't wake up enough to complain when their civil rights are violated and their private phone conversations are bugged en masse without warrants why would they wake up for this?

Re: What the CPSIA really means

My last quote, also by Gerald Ford:

"There are no adequate substitutes for father, mother, and children bound together in a loving commitment to nurture and protect. No government, no matter how well-intentioned, can take the place of the family in the scheme of things."

Re: What the CPSIA really means

Okay, I lied. One from Reagan:

"Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves."

My pants are on fire from lying (I'm having too much fun):

"I've never been able to understand why a Republican contributor is a 'fat cat' and a Democratic contributor of the same amount of money is a 'public-spirited philanthropist'." -Reagan

Oh I am adding to the list the quote I sent with my email blast to all my customers,
